The 12 Days of Christmas

Too mild for the Pit, but for goodness’ sake, Tennessean, does it really need to be pointed out to you that “the 12 Days of Christmas” did not start on 12/14? This might be a shock, but the 12 days refer to the Christmas season that starts 12/25 and runs through 1/5, culminating in Epiphany.

I know this might be a little esoteric for you, but being the largest newspaper in the buckle of the Bible belt, a city with thousands of churches and several denomination headquarters, you might want to get some basic facts about Christmas right.

Yes, the concept of Twelfth Night (as referred to by Shakespeare and others) is something that occurs in January.

I used to always throw a Twelfth Night party but my friends thought it was too weird and too many of them were dieting at that point so my decadently heavy food often went un-touched.
