Ahoy, Capn. We’ve been missing you lately, it’s a shame you can’t set sail for Vegas. Good thing Aholibah is going to the WSOP, gives all us yahoo’s an excuse to party for the weekend.
I plan on being there tomorrow, Allen permitting. I’ll definitely have time to stop home from work to see if the game is up or not, so I should be able to bot it.
Back to your regularly scheduled thread.

Thanks, MsRobyn! I’m up and running – My Blog
You’re welcome. I think it’s great that we live about two hours apart by car, but we’re meeting across the country. Gotta love the Internets!
Robin
Blog looks great, A. Kudos to MsRobyn for getting you lined out, we are spared wet willies from Gangster Octopus. I know I’ll sleep better now.
Thanks, Duckie! Somebody comment in there so I don’t feel so echo-y!
Hey, whatever happened to the idea of a custom SDMB card protector?
Got too busy and I forgot…
I look forward to seeing everyone soon. I (and maybe Mr Geek as well) am up for dinner on either Friday or Saturday night. Whatever works out better for the majority of the group.
Also, if anybody is looking for some Irish pub action- Fados at Green Valley Ranch (off the Strip) is a great place on Friday and Saturday nights with live music rom 10pm - 1am
- Illegal for me to marry, but also happily coupled for the past 25 1/2 years.
- You’ll lose that reputation here, but the info stays in Vegas.
- See above. BTW, who is going to be in charge of holding bail money?
- Will have to take you to Hofbrauhaus, kittycorner from Hard Rock Hotel/Casino.
- Done wrote ya…and wow…Ms. Robyn and Airman Doors in Las Vegas!? BTW, Airman…I promised you a free beer a few years ago…time for you to collect on that…looking forward to meeting you!
If anyone needs any specific info on hotels or restaurants or whatever, let me know!
Also, in case anyone is interested, we Las Vegas residents sometimes get deals that tourists don’t.
Currently there is a special Nevada resident deal for 1/2 off tickets to Le Reve at Wynn Hotel/Casino, and I know we get a discount for Shark Reef, the aquarium at Mandalay Bay…so hit us up to join you at the box office for any discounts…
Our travel plans are finalized and everything.
I screwed up the plane reservations, so we’ll be there the 30th and 31st, as well; our flight home leaves at 11:59 p.m. on July 31st.
See y’all in 10 days!
Robin
Well, I got a lot of positive feedback on this restaurant, so let’s try to set up a time to make the reservations…is an early (5:30 or 6:00) dinner or a later (8:00pm) dinner a better idea? How many of us could make either or both times, and are you going solo or with a SO?
Me, Duke and Aholi start the count off at 3, and I think either time is ok, but I think Aholi is pushing for the early dinner…
so just to make sure I have it straight, are we talking about dinner on thursday or friday?
I think we’re pretty flexible. Put the Doorses down for two.
Robin
Usually prefer to eat dinner earlier, but if this is planned for Friday…well…not only is 5:30 the height of rush hour (and yes, with 1.5 million locals there is huge traffic in Las Vegas rush hours) but add to that the mass of California drivers who are just starting to pull in on Friday evening for the weekend…so, 5:30 could be a little congested.
I would vote for 6:30…not that it will be a breeze to drive The Strip even then, but by that time the locals will all be home and off the roads and the drive will be much less crowded. Just my 2 cents.
I’m flexible as a broke snake, and will be riding in the YetiWagon, so I’m down for whatever.
I’ve read a lot of DMark’s Vegas threads and trust his guide instincts, sounds like a plan to me (plus if he knows where the good beer joints are, we need to talk!).
Speaking of beer joints, Dmark… know anything about the brew pub or whatever it is at the Monte Carlo? That’s where we’re staying, but I’m not going to have much time to waste on sub-par beer pubs.
The Monte Carlo Brew pub is not bad, not bad at all. Personally I prefer The Holy Cow, but it is gone from the Strip now. Main Street Station also has a good brewpub.
Put us down for 6:30 Friday for dinner. Silenus and Deesiresjohn will be there with bells on. How are we planning on recognizing each other? Besides my shirt, I mean.
I too have heard good things about the Monte Carlo Brew Pub, as well as http://www.gordonbiersch.com/ off The Strip - supposedly quite the place to meet new (single) people as well. However, the best beer is at Hofbrauhaus…flown in from Munich in kegs! Bet that shipping bill is a bit pricey.
However, don’t hate me but even after living in Germany for many years, I prefer Miller Lite.
