Did I hear correctly? “The Coast of Utopia” is 9 hours long? How does that work?
Did Sam Waterson get his voice fixed? He didn’t sound as rough as he used to.
Is the show being broadcast in HD where you are? It’s not here.

The Coast of Utopia is actually a trilogy of plays, Voyage, Shipwreck and Salvage.
The trilogy was played as repertory with different parts on different dates, or with two sequential parts on matinee and evening performance, or in a marathon. You can see the sequences if you go to the official site and hit “Performance Calendar”.
I just finished watching the Tony Awards.
A few comments:
Why do they even bother announcing who won? Apparently every Tony voter is sitting in the audience and simply by the volume of applause as the nominees are announced, you knew who won - they might as well have had an applause-'o-meter to determine the winners.
My main gripe with the Oscars is that Hollywood actors are either too stupid or too lazy to memorize a 90 second thank you speech without pulling out some crappy cocktail napkin to read off a list of names nobody cares about.
My major gripe about the Tony Awards is actors who seem to think they have won the Nobel Prize for finding a cure for cancer and ending war - goodlord are these people full of themselves. It seems every show was an “incredible journey” and every cast if chock full of “amazing incredible people” and every winner is humbled and proud to be a part of The Theeeahta…unlike the heathens in other art forms.
Yes, I know it is the Tony Awards for excellence in theater, but boy can those people lay it on thick.
Despite my somewhat catty commentary, it was still a fun show to watch; the scenes from the musicals and plays are always interesting to see.
I’m kinda glad Jay Johnson: The Two and Only won.
Hey guys, have you heard about this new show coming to CBS in the fall - Viva something something. I have a vague memory of having heard something about it at one time.
The theater world is much smaller and much more tightly-knit than Hollywood. I wouldn’t be surprised if all the Tony voters WERE in the audience, and I can understand the overwhelmed feeling the winners get. After all, they probably know all of the people who voted for them.
I have no idea what you are talking about. And, no, the song “Viva Las Vegas” is not running through my head every five minutes.
I think it’s called “Viva Tom Laughlin: Billy Jack at the Craps Table”
Raul Esparza should have won Best Actor in a Musical. Other than that there were no surprises.
I caught a few seconds of it and made my girlfriend chuckle when I observed that none of the choreography nominees had female companions.
I know a lot of people feel the way you do but I am so very happy that DHP won, cause I love him so. Raul is fantastic, but he’ll have to stand in line after David for my worship.
Hey, Chuck and Bob won a Tony!
Pierce had the best line of the evening: Tonight a soprano gets whacked. (Laughter). No, not that one. The one in our show.
Aw, I thought Mary Louise Wilson’s line about there being no mistake was by FAR the best line. Also, Julie White (!!!) got the tschotske.
Which of course brings up the question–who leads?
I wasn’t familiar with Company, but Raul knocked my socks off. Outstanding, moving… I’m in love. I’ll be getting the cast recording because of that performance. (Still happy for DHP though.)
What was the deal with Fantasia? Too much in the moment? Her emotion seemed very real. People in the audience looked confused. It made me feel kinda odd.
