Flyers in 7
Hawks in 6
Montreal in seven.
Chicago in six.
The Habs have done well with me picking against them, so I’ll keep it up. I’ll say the Flyers and Hawks both win in six, but I’m hoping for the first Original Six final since the Habs dusted the Rangers in 1979.
I’ll take San Jose in 6.
Then Montreal in 7. I think this will be a great series.
Chicago in 6.
Montreal in 6.
San Jose - 6
Flyers - 6
Why not? My predictions so far have sucked!
Montreal in 5
San Jose in 4
one question for all the Habs fans and bandwagoners.
Who would you give the Conn Smythe (playoff MVP) to if the Habs won the Cup?
If the Habs win, Halak-he kept the chosen One to 1 goal in the second round.
If the Shark win-Pavelski-he scores, and keeps the heat off of Heatley and Thornton.
If the Blackhawks win(I hope)-Byfuglien. he come up big when needed.
If the Flyers win-Leighton. He comes in off IR and does 2 shutouts in 4 playoff games.(To be fair he made 98 saves in a 5OT losing effort in the AHL playoffs for Albany).
Sorry I’m late to the party, here…
Flyers in 6
Sharks in 7
Tough game for Montreal last night. It’s a sea of orange all over Philly, all the time, now.
I’m pulling for the Sharks in the West, and only a little bit of that is about wanting to see Hossa hanging his head again. Sharks fans should rest easier - after yesterday I’ve decided to put away my my vintage Irbe jersey for the rest of the season because the Sharks seem to always lose when I wear it.
I’m still in denial that the Pens are out (sniff), and there won’t be any more hockey in the Igloo. I have so many fond memories of hockey games and concerts at the CIVIC ARENA (some of us never accepted that whole Mellon thing). At least now I can really understand why my dad still talks about Forbes Field…
I’d give it to Halak, but if Cammalleri is able to keep ripping it up, I could be persuaded to change my mind.
Same here. Either Halak or Cammalleri; either would be very deserving of the award. If the decision was today, I’d go with Halak.
Brutal game last night; the only player that seemed even half awake was Pyatt. He’s the only one who I didn’t actually notice do anything truly boneheaded (that penalty was bullshit, as he was pushed into Leighton from behind). I expect to see a different team on Tuesday!
Is the crowd in Philly always that…bizarre? Their team was winning in a total blow out, and while they cheered at the moments the goals were scored, it was dead silent the rest of the time (ok, other than the mocking Olé, which was kind of funny). It was just weird not to hear a more or less constant cheering or at least some noise from the crowd.
And man, do I ever hate that Day-Glo orange. Who was the colour blind idiot who said let’s make the team look like traffic cones! The Flames’ uniform is beginning to grow on me; their orange and red clash, but at least the shades don’t make my eyes bleed!
I doubt that the crowd at the Wachovia Center was actually quiet last night; sometimes the TV broadcasts just don’t pick up the crowd noise that well.
Then again, maybe they were all just hoarse from Friday night!
Again, its not that I don’t trust my own math, but there are a lot of scores to keep. If I make a mistake let me know. The results are…
garygnu is in lead with 23
Rysto last years champ is in 2nd with 22
Uncle Brother Walker and me with 20
Harborwolf and Quint with 17
drm had shitty second round made small gain, now had 15
leaffan and dogbutler have 12
This just in, MLS(can’t remeber who this is acronym for), Rickjay, and Kenner with 10
Yeticus Rex second round started has 8
I got 7 predictors for Conference finals.
Woo hoo!
I missed Leighton’s second ECF shutout due to work, but I got to see the Hawks beat the Sharks.
I wonder if anyone turned the Hawks and Sharks game on and showed it to the Habs to point out what a hockey game looks like? I think they were a little confused out there last night! See, hockey involves skating, passing the puck to someone on your own team, and occasionally smacking it towards that net thingy behind the guy wearing all the extra padding, and trying to get it to hit the inside of the net!
I don’t know why Sergei was playing last night. I don’t know why O’Byrne wasn’t playing the past two games. Sure, he’s a bit of an idiot, but he’s huge and willing to hit, be hit and occasionally fight. O’Byrne and Lapierre (and heck, Gill…he’s twice the size of anyone else out there, fucking USE IT) need to hammer the Flyers a little and let the goal scorers try and score. Heck, it’s not like Andrei K and Pouliot aren’t big enough to throw a few hits too. And for all the talk of “going to the net”, they might want to occasionally have someone in front of the damn net. Leighton isn’t that good a goalie. The Habs are beating themselves at this point.
I suppose a 3-0 loss is improvement over a 6-0 loss, but they need to win the next two at home. At least make the series interesting, even if they eventually lose it. Though even when they were playing decently well, fuck was that ever a boring hockey game.
And I still think the Philly crowd sounds weird. I suppose it’s possible that the mics just aren’t picking up the sound. I don’t know - it just seems off somehow.
I don’t know, in amongst the Sharks’ flurries of good zone time and pressure (that resulted in nothing), there was plenty of weak-assed passing by the Sharks, particularly in the neutral zone. This was a problem in the first two games of the first round, but until yesterday I really hadn’t seen too much of it since.
I wasn’t talking about the Sharks. I was talking about the Habs and their annoying habit of making passes to nobody. The Kostitsyns are the worst; blind passes to anyone at all. Overall the Sharks/Hawks game was pretty good hockey, while the Habs/Flyers game sucked royally, even without considering the score.
Why Kostitsyn the Younger is in the lineup is beyond me. I’d put O’Byrne in as a forward, if nothing else, at least he’s big, and Philly’s forwards are as big as Montreal’s defencemen. That’s trouble.
I also don’t get how Pronger could suck so royally at the last two Olympics and play so well during the season.
