Woohoo the Wings are very nearly assured, except for utter catastrophe, of making the Playoffs for the 23rd straight year. It was very close there for a long while, but it would a heck of a thing to lose to injuries.
And without that catastrophe, I will not have to pay for playoff tickets this year. :smack:
Speaking of catastrophes…
And with another collapse, the Canes are out for the 5th year running.
And she is done. 23 years in a Row!
Wolfman - just need to win a couple more to get Pittsburgh in the first round instead of Boston.
The Coyotes and Stars battle for the last wildcard spot could come down to the last game of the season, which happens to be Stars @ Coyotes. That might be fun to watch.
Ottawa deservedly missed the playoffs. Hopefully next season we won’t be depending on a pair of sophomores to make up the second pairing.
And no, depending on a pair of third-year defencemen won’t make me any happier. :smack:
Ducks and Kings are back in but not playing against each other…yet. Ducks are now in the driver’s seat to have home ice throughout the western conference finals; Kings get the Sharks AGAIN, but without home ice adv…it will still make for an epic series…it never disappoints (if you’re a Kings fan!).
I’m dumbfounded by this.
Perhaps it gives Nonis more time to spend on GM activities. I dunno.
Yeah, the Leafs seem to be jinxed to have everything turn to crap on them.
The Sharks will have Tomas Hertl back in the lineup starting tonight, after missing half the season with a knee injury. There’s no telling yet whether he’s in ‘game shape’, but if he is (or can quickly return to form) it will provide a very welcome boost for the playoffs.
… and the Leafs are going to continue to be cursed because of the GTA’s support of vile people like Harold Ballard, Mike Harris, Rob Ford, etc. It’s so much better to be a Senators or Red Wings fan anyway.
Take your personal politics the hell out of here. How is this relevant to the NHL?
Ouch! Now I know what it feels like to get burned by a David Clarkson hat trick. Oh wait…
Hey, not to get too off topic, but are there any good deals going on at the Lambton Mall these days?
I just saw that Chico Resch was going to retire after the Devils game on Sunday. I’ll be sad to see him go. Chico is a great person. He may have been a career back-up but he has a great sense of humour and comedic timing. I know that I would never think of the Moscow Circus if Chico hadn’t been sitting next me.
May you have nothing but smiles and happiness in your retirement.

This is extremely out of line in The Game Room. Don’t do it again. No formal warning, but come on, you know better than this.

Columbus had a reasonable shot at upsetting the Rangers had they been able to climb past the Flyers into third place in their division.
Now as a wild card they get to play Pittsburgh, against whom they were winless this season, and are without key veteran players who are injured.
I am hopeful though that they will be able to take one of their games against Pittsburgh to overtime before losing. :dubious:
Dammit, I posted this in the old thread by mistake, but as I’m sure everyone has heard by now, Ryan Malone has been arrested for DUI and coccaine possession.
Grand Theft Auto???
Bruins - Red Wings is going to be fantastic. The Red Wings are depleted but have had an uncanny ability to turn adversity into success. I doubt they’ll win, but I wouldn’t be surprised if they push the Bruins to 7 games.
