The 2020 fitness and exercise thread

I’m off to compete in the National Ninja League World Championships this weekend! They released the run order yesterday, and I recognize three of the ten names before mine from TV. (I’m not running tenth, but there are more famous people on the list that I can count, so the ten people before me was a manageable number.) I’m so excited I don’t know what to do with myself!

A True Ninja would be unknown.

Exciting!
Please post back with photos.

Well I signed up for a 50-mile gravel bike race at the end of June.

I suppose I should start training.

One of my favorite shirts I saw during the Ragnar said:
“I trained all day yesterday for this!"

After being injured in 2019, I started back at the beginning of the year. (I did a fun 5k on Dec 31st; that tripled my mileage for the entire 4th quarter). It was kind of tough to just run at my own pace & not go with anyone who passed me. I only focused on passing one person, around the two mile mark; he was a real jerk! 30s or 40s w/ a baseball hat on backwards. Then some guy came up on me in the final 150 yards or so, I picked up my pace a bit & then he backed off so I did; he finished 4 or 5 seconds behind me.

I did a race three weeks ago in VT, the temp for the day was between -7° & 14°. I didn’t feel great & the cold air just hurt; my jaws hurt from breathing in the cold air. I ended up with a wicked respiratory infection. Couldn’t even think about running but I was at least able to walk every day.

Today was in the low 70°s & I’m feeling better so I went for a run; got all of not quite 300 yards in & rolled my ankle; badly. It’s swollen & I’m sure it’s a mild sprain so I’m back on IR less than ¼ mile after getting off of it. Got a big race the beginning of May; the hope was to finish it in what would probably my slowest time ever; now I’m not even sure of that.

@#$%&!
