And support gay marriage, immigration, women’s rights to abortions, etc. At least, that’s my view as a Libertarian and all the Libertarians I know personally are the same way.
Do Libertarians even want “marriage” to exist, as a government-recognized-and-regulated institutional relationship legally distinguishable from an ordinary commercial contract?
As with all political parties there are degrees of extremism. I’m a social liberal and an economic conservative. If there’s something other than ‘Libertarian’ that defines that, I’ll gladly switch titles. :3
Hah. When I attended the Institute for Humane Studies on scholarship probably 80% of my fellow students were anti-abortion rights. After a debate on the subject one of our professors did a quick show of hands, and I expected to be in the majority…no chance. I don’t know what they thought about immigration, but I can tell you from the amount of homophobic slurs I heard addressed towards a fellow student that I doubt gay marriage would have been welcomed.
And, yes, there were almost no non-white, non-male students at this LibertarianFest. I think there were three women.
