The 3DS is very slick

Forget the 3D for a minute.

How good looking are the games graphics? I mean, is it far more capable than the regular DS or is it a full “new console” upgrade? I’m talking about the regular 2D graphics, when the 3D effect is off.

Not many games out show off it’s graphical capabilities yet,

I’m pretty sure it’s a bit above the PSP level.

Yea it’s the expected step up, honestly I think it will be capable of graphics that are a little better than the PSP. There just isn’t anything yet that pushes those boundaries, but you can expect some beautiful games to come out this year.

Pilot Wings for the record looks as good as the Wii Sports Resort game as far as I’m concerned, so that’s something.

The web browser has been implemented and the store is open.

The store launched totally full of over priced garbage. $5 for Super Mario Land? In 2011? What is with Nintendos pricing of ancient games on all of their failed stores? This one is doomed as were the other ones. Epic fail.

Eh, people will pay it. $4 for Super Mario Land is not some giant rip off. $6 for Link’s Awakening is a good deal.

I suppose we could argue about the price if we wanted to, but I can’t say that stuff like Super Mario Land or Plants vs. Zombies is garbage.

I don’t have the 3DS in fron of me right now, but IIRC, the price for PvZ is about a dollar more than the PC version. shrug

Failed stores? The Virtual Console is one of the Wii’s biggest hits. Besides that, try to find a cartridge of Super Mario Land today for under $5. I say good luck…

I thought I heard Link’s Awakening was free or something? Did I mishear that?

Excitebike 3D is free.

Legend of Zelda Four Swords will be free.

And my 3DS has just stopped charging. Time to hunt out the warranty

I don’t have a problem with the prices (Link’s Awakening is more than worth the six bucks they are charging). My problem is the fact that I have to add funds into my account in five dollar increments. That is complete bullshit.

In fact, I had clicked on the purchase button for Link’s Awakening, but when I saw that I could only add money in five dollar increments I canceled my order.

I know this isn’t unique to Nintendo, but I really hate when companies pull that type of crap. I was hoping that Nintendo would go the PSN route of allowing me to purchase an item without having to add an excessive amount of funds in my account.

It’s worth resurrecting this thread to point out the Ocarina of Time 3D is now out, and our system seller has arrived!

I’ve really been enjoying it, it’s just one of the best games of all time made even better. If you’ve never played it this comes highly recommended, and if you’re a veteran the beautiful graphical makeover and new Master Quest make it worth a revisit. You may even want to consider a 3DS purchase if you’ve been unsure until this point, it’s that good.

Ooh…how big the storage memory on the 3DS? I can see myself going overboard with old games…

I think it saves to the SD card so pretty much infinite.

I think the most the 3DS is equipped to handle at the moment is 32gb…that works out to…um, hang on

furious scribbling, tongue sticking out

…256,000 NES games?
Assuming 1 mega bit games. Yeesh!

Nintendo has announced a price drop from $250 to $170 effective August 12th. People who have already purchased at the higher price get 20 downloadable games free.

This introduces the slightly shady option of buying a system now at the higher price to get the free games, and using a store’s 30-day price guarantee to recover the $80 difference after the price drop comes into effect.

I’m still waiting for a redesign, (3DS Lite).

I hear the top screen gets smudges from the bottom screen’s frame. Nothing you can’t rub off. But I want more battery life too.

If they’re having this much trouble selling the original, what are the chances they would ever issue a redesign?
