The 4/9/03 South park was awesome

I just watched tonight’s South Park. It was great. I didn’t know those guys were so deep. For those that didn’t see it. They basicly stated that we need both sides of the Pro/Anti- war Argument to make this great. The anti-war people to make the country look big, the pro-war to make sure the country and it’s beleifs is defended. I great argument that I have been thinking all along. Good job Guys.

On a side note. I am pretty sure they just made that episode because the once that they have been advertising all week has been one about when Eric breaks his ass.

Agian I would just like to give the props to Trey Parker and Matt Stone for doing a great job.

Yeah, most of the time the only really intelligent social commentary comes from South Park since they are the only ones that can really get away with it without the message getting lost.

Cafe Society

Yeah it would fit better there, Thanks Coldfire

“That way, we can be warlike, while pretending not to be! Raise high the flag of hypocrisy!”

Yep, they’re brilliant.

There’s an article in the NYT today about how Parker & Stone are collaborating this season with Norman Lear.

I’ve always said they were geniuses. I’m a huge fan of Parker and Stone’s, almost to the point of complete geekness. I have all their movies, I’ve seen every episode of South Park, and I even bought a bootleg tape of some of their really early stuff at a comic book convention last year.

Having said that though, I thought last night’s episode could have been a little better. I like where they’re going with their “messages”, as this has been a staple of South Park since the start, but it almost seems like they’re beginning to focus too much on the message and not enough on the comedy. What really drove home the message in a lot of the earlier episodes was the shock value (ie the South Park flag with a bunch of white guys hanging a black guy.) Honestly, how many times did you laugh out loud during last night’s episode? I know I only did once or twice.

I’ll continue to watch and stay loyal to them but I hope this recent downturn is only temporary.

Oh, I forgot to mention: Was anyone else shocked that they showed Thomas Jefferson and neglected to make any kind of crack on him being with slave women?

It seems like such an obvious thing to do for South Park. I just hope that they didn’t think about it and it’s not that they were scared to do it.

I laughed many, many times. Sorry!

But then again, I’m also a big 1776 fan.

I don’t think they were scared, I think they ran out of time.

Still, this is one of the few times I’ve watched South Park in years (I really like the show, but I always just forget it’s on) and I thought it was hysterical.

“Pro-war, anti-war, who cares? 100 episodes!”

I usually think their social commentary is right on, but on this episode, it was way over the top. It wasn’t a subtle subtext of a funny story, it was the story.

Of course, I realize that this particular episode was probably supposed to seem over the top, but it just didn’t ring true with me.

I did think the cartman/flashback cliche thing was funny. “Now, when the TIVO is full…”

Oh, and not taking a crack at Thomas Jefferson seems like their style - they often try to avoid obvious, common jokes like that.

That episode kicked ass!
I want a hundred more…

Great topic and Cartmen in a wig…good stuff, man!

rabble rabble rabble

dammmmit…“Cartman”

preview good…Og smash.

I had that inane “Little Bit Country/Little Bit Rock-n-Roll” song stuck in my head! Curse them!!!

“If you don’t like this country then you can git out.”

rabble!

I loved it. I laughed out loud several times. Especially during the Rock/Country debate.

Jesus is alive!

It was Cartman casually pummeling the deliver boy while humming the theme to Felicity that had me in stitches.
