I thought this was going to be about weird drinks that haven’t been popular since the 70’s.
I am disappoint.

Since I don’t like carbonation, all soda is unappealing to me. However, I did drink Moxie on rare occasion when I was a kid in New England. The first time I had it was as an accompaniment to a deliciously spicy meatball sub on a particularly chewy roll. Moxie was the perfect drink to wash down the food.
After that, I think I drank it mostly to be contrary, since it has a reputation for tasting so awful. My guess is that this is the reason most people consume it.
Do you drink prune juice for enjoyment, too?
A warrior’s drink.
I once did some Make-a-Six Pack thing at World Market. Out of the six sodas, only one was something I thought was especially good (think it was a vanilla pecan flavor), two were drinkable but forgettable, two I gamely finished in the name of science and then there was Moxie. Made it a third of the way through the bottle before deciding that life was too short and dumping the rest down the sink.
What the hell makes one fizzy sugar water worse for you than any other fizzy sugar water? I think the idiots who wrote the article just drew the countdown numbers out of a hat.
