Coke or Pepsi?

For several years now I’ve been hopelessly addicted to Dr. Pepper, but recently have been converted to the delights of Coca Cola. Some people take the difference between Coke and Pepsi products very seriously.

What is your take on this oh-so-importante issue?

I’m not a cola fan (I like root beer and recently discovered Moxie!)
But about 20 years ago they did the “Pepsi Challenge” here in Southern California. I took the challenge–and picked Coke.

I drink Dr. Pepper almost exclusively at restaurants, Dr. Pepper or Diet Coke at work depending on how much change I have (Dr. Pepper is $0.45 and Diet Coke is $0.55) and Diet Dr. Pepper at home because that is what my wife buys.

I’ve never liked any Pepsi product and will only drink it at the in-law’s house because that is all they ever have.

Pepsi, all the way baby. Not my favorite drink, but wetween Coke and Pepsi, Pepsi is an open can of Whoop-Ass.

Betwixt Coke and Pepsi - Pepsi. At work I guzzle Mountain Dew [crab juice is unavailable  ]

Dougie, just what the heck is moxie. My dictionary says: “mox-ie n. after Moxie, trademark for a soft drink [Slang] courage, pluck, perseverance, etc.; guts.” I’m intrigued now.

One complete set of morals for sale to highest bidder, new in box.

I should have anticipated someone would ask that. “Moxie” was a regional drink in the South for many years. Mad Magazine even printed its logo in such places as the surface of a spherical tank at an oil refinery. I was suprised to see it here in Southern California, about two weeks ago–at an Italian sandwich emporium known as Giuliano’s. The orange Moxie drink tasted like orange soda crossed with cream soda. Great!!

Coke is it for me. Pepsi is just way too sweet. It’s also interesting that Pepsi has something like 20-30% more calories.

Hi, my name is Funneefarmer and I’m a Diet Dr. Pepper addict.

(Together) Hi Funnee !

That and the occasional Mt. Dew. Never liked either of the colas much.

Pepsi – except I recently switched to Coke cuz I am so tired of drinking out of the Star Wars “collector cans” – who’s gonna collect them? Are they gonna put them on a special shelf? Along with the miniature spoons from all 50 states?

Actually, I shouldn’t talk – I have a can of J.R. Ewing beer in the fridge.

I’d like to lock J. R. Ewing in the fridge. Not his beer.

There was a thread on this not long ago – I vote for Pepsi, although I’m really a diet Dr. Pepper fan. Interesting - someone said Pepsi’s too sweet – I find Coke too sweet, especially after they fooled with the formula in the '80’s (Cecil has written about this).
If I can’t get diet Dr. Pepper, I drink diet Pepsi.

Yer pal,

Yeah–but where can you get RC Cola in Southern California these days?

Coke!!! I want the real thing, baby!!!

Unforgiven

I’m a confirmed Moxie drinker and I’d describe it as a bitter citric flavored cola. The main flavoring ingredient is oil of bergament, the same flavor used in Earl Grey tea. Admittedly, most of the people who I know who’ve drank it describe it by some variation of “that tastes like shit”.

Dougie, what you were drinking was probably Moxie cream soda, not Moxie cola. Moxie cola is now practically unknown outside of New England. In fact, it’s close to unknown in New England.

I have drinking problem.I decide, after over 5 years, that I don’t like diet drinks. But Coke and pepsi have about 5 spoonfuls of sugar per can. (I drink coffee/tea with one teaspoonful of sugar.) Nobody needs that much! But I still like Coke.

Cole, soft drinks, beer, most fruit juice all have 150 calories. Light beer, wine and apple juice(natural) have half of that.Just in case you want to know.

I can’t vouch for that, Mike. Some things I have *never * tasted. (I know a woman who, many years ago, told me sake tastes like dishwater. How did she know that?)

Coke. And sometimes cherry Coke to break up the monotony.

Still wish I could find vanilla coke in a can or bottle somewhere… don’t want to have to run to the soda fountain to get one. Maybe I’ll just have to buy some of that vanilla syrup they use to flavor coffee and set up a mad scientist’s lab in my kitchen?

Coke over Pepsi. But Diet Pepsi over Diet Coke.
