I feel sort of silly making a topic devoted simply to a picture but while perusing Google a few minutes ago, I ran across the most beautiful picture ever… behold the 8th Wonder of the World.
That one doesn’t get past work’s prudery sensors (they don’t like us surfing the supermodel sites… don’t know why…) but they haven’t figured out how to block a Google image search. Yep. That’s one good-lookin’ lady.
nah, you see the thing with Wonders of the World, is that there was a whole lot more to them then just aesthetic principals, and you can’t tell that from just a photo.
Now if we assume we’re talking about the 7 Wonders of the Ancient World*
The Great Pyramid of Khufu at Giza
Built as a tomb to the Pharoah, may have had some astrological significance too. Such an increadable feat of engineering that we’re still arguing some 4500 years later about how they managed to build it in just 20 years.
The Hanging Gardens of Babylon
Built as a declaration of love by Nebuchadnezzar II for hiw wife/concubine who missed the mountains she grew up in.
(yeah ok, so admittidly they served no real purpose other than to be pretty to look at, and possibly get old Neb a REAL good night or two…)
Might interest you to know that inbetween slaughtering his own people and upsetting the world ( )Saddam has been trying to rebuild the Hanging gardens.
The Statue of Zeus at Olympus
Built to pay homage to Zeus, King of the Gods. Built of ivory, gold and precious stones, it stood 13 metres (40 feet) tall.
The Temple of Artimis at Ephesus
Built in honour of Artimis the Hunteress. Made of marble and decorated with bronze statues. It served not only as a sanctuary, but also as a marketplace and a place of religious learning.
The Mausoleum at Halicarnassus
Built as a tomb to King Maussollos. It was apparently the first ever structure built which had a big bastard bronze statue on the roof (a chariot pulled by four horses).
The Collosus of Rhodes
33 metres (110) foot tall statue of the Sun God, Helios. It served not only as a hugely impressive landmark, but in building it it helped to unite the people of Rhodes. Possibly an inspiration for the Statue of Liberty
The Lighthouse at Alexandra
um, a lighthouse… 117 metres (384 feet) tall and covered in white marble, a monsterous mirror could reflect light 10s of kilometres. Apparently it was also used in a similar way to a magnifying glass and sunshine to burn enemy ships (how cool is that!)
Anyways, so although the 7 Wonders of the World were all jolly impressive to look at, they had more going for them…
You’ll need to find a little more evidence to elevate your piccy to this level methinks.
And with all the above taken into consideration, I think you’ll find that the actual 8th Wonder of the World (TwistofFate) will be in my bed being wonderous next week.
Thankyouverymuchindeed!
*I picked the 7 Wonders of the Ancient World, as these are the only ones that anyone seems to agree on. There are dozens of conflicting list for the 7 Wonder of the Middle Ages, New World, Natural World, etc.
When come back bring camel toe.
One trick kitty.
But, but… she’s hot woman! And in a wet clingy shirt! And has the most seductive look on her face! Mmmm…
We need a drool emoticon
