The Amazing Race May 6th, The Finale!

This is it, the last two legs of the season. We’re already close to an hour in to the two hour final. Don’t forget to set your DVR for the full two hours. I’m not going to say anything to keep the spoilers out of the mouseover.

Well that sucks for Vanessa. She would have gotten it I think had she not had the bum leg. I guess I’m pulling for the husband and wife now, the other two teams suck.

Like a couple of goddamn freaking cockroaches… grrrrr

Three teams left, and I want them all to lose.

Once again - Read The Fuckin’ Clue! Will this be Brendon and Rachel’s undoing?

How did they screw that up? Looks like it might be Art and JJ.

Well, isn’t THAT embarrassing?

And the winners are…not completing the Roadblock.

We can only hope.

Weren’t Art & J.J. very critical of B & R for not figuring things out for themselves and just following other teams? They didn’t seem to mind doing it themselves.

I don’t watch this show, but I couldn’t ignore the title. Come on - the finally? Don’t you mean the finale? As in:

Finally, we’ve made it to the season finale.

No,no I didn’t. I was doing something else at the time, and if a Mod would feel some pity on me they would change the title for me.

Well that was a pretty cool win. They skip half the Roadblock, go back, do the complete roadblock and still come in first. An amazing finish to the Amazing Race.

I have to give Rachel (Big Brother) props for one thing…she absolutely plows through every task, competition and contest that gets set in front of her right to the end.

She may scream, cry, whine, pout and flail every single step of the way but she knocks 'em down as fast they stand up.

Yeah, how much did the other teams have to suck for them to backtrack that much and still win?

At the end of the day, they were the least objectionable team and far and away the best Racers.

Credit to the editors, I was actively rooting for the border patrol guy to fall every time they showed him sled when Rachel & Dave had caught up to them on the sledding task. It was a small glimmer of the adrenaline rush when I watch actual sports.

While Big Brother Rachel does plow along through any challenge, I found Rachel the Army wife far more impressive. Not just because she wasn’t prone to crying fits, but because she was a natural at every task.

The thing that always impresses me the most in these reality competition shows is being good at the dopey physical challenges, and she was one of the best female competitors I’ve ever seen on any network show, and would compare favorably to the best of MTV’s Challenge women. That girl just owned every task like she was born to do it.

The single most impressive example was the hay stacking fast forward, where she took the more physically demanding job and smoked the guidos. Much respect.

Well deserved win, and satisfying end. The only thing that would have made it better would have been Vanessa and Ralph eliminating Big Brother in the penultimate leg and then coming in second ahead of Art & JJ, but you can’t have everything.

We had a weather warning interruption during the time that Team Big Bother [sic] went to Aloha Stadium. Where and When did they discover the error?

After they got there and didn’t find helicopters. THEN they read the clue again and had their usual passive-aggressive contrapuntal whine duet while they cabbed it back to where they started.

On the very first leg (Japan to Hawaii) the Big Brother team got seated in an exit row while the others had regular coach seats. That’s a nice advantage on a 12 hour leg (12 hours is what the Border Patrol claimed, but that seems excessive.)

Edit: Checked Hawaiian Airlines and Osaka-Honolulu is 11:15 duration.

When the teams were boarding, it looked like the plane was deserted, and I didn’t see anyone else getting on or off. I would think that would be a popular route; wonder if that was just an off day.

Nice to know Big Brother didn’t win. I gave up on this season halfway through because of all the freakin’ delayed broadcasts, meaning I started missing the last half or so of each episode. I can’t set my DVR to pad the end time because I DVR a couple of other things right after TAR. And for some reason TAR is not available in my cable service’s OnDemand selection, though many other CBS shows (including Survivor) are. Get wise, CBS, if you don’t want to lose viewers like you lost me, don’t make this show so difficult to keep up with.
