The American Coup: 11.9.2020 -

They were all pardoned after the war.

Ladies and Gentlemen, may I introduce the new Under Secretary of Defense of the United States, Anthony Tata:

The relief of the election results have worn off and I feel ground down and exhausted, again.

This is really fucked up. Are the Republican’s on this board proud?

Absolutely this. It was nice feeling happy and hopeful for a few hours.

[Old person] I remember when shouting “yee ha!” was so unpresidential that you had to drop out of contention. [/old person]

I have mentioned this a few times on this board:

I will not feel relaxed until Biden takes the oath of office.

Republican fuckery knows no bounds.

It makes me worry everytime Biden says he is all about working with them. I really hope Biden isn’t duped for another eight years.

This one’s going to be a pretty hard sell considering Oregon has been mail in only for over two decades, and five states (Colorado, Hawaii, Oregon, Utah, and Washington) as well as Washington DC are all mail voting as well. Good luck telling Oregon and Washington that all our elections for the past twenty plus years are all invalid because mail in voting doesn’t work.

I disagree.

I admit, I had my my moments. But right now, I’m about as sure as I’ve ever been that this is all theatre - partly for that special audience of one and partly to piss us off. Barr had everyone going yesterday with his DOJ memo ( myself included, I must admit ).

Then look what happened - the postal inspectors stepped in and started shutting that shit down -:rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl: Man, I hope Trump didn’t promise those clowns amnesty because he’s done with them and they very well may be charged. And I bet the postal inspectors put the fear of God into some of the lawyers and enablers.

DJT and the Enablers are still shit tweeting “Loser Don just trotted out the old “Wait until you see what’s coming.”

This is like watching the funniest movie ever in a theatre that might collapse on your head at any moment. But that doesn’t mean the movie’s not comedy gold. And those smug Republican smiles will start to fade when they realize that Trump really has no intention of leaving, because he fully expects them to rig this election for him. They neutered the Russia investigation, they protected him from the consequences of Ukraine, he doesn’t see the difference.
You know, I’ve always the one that was skeptical that they’d be able to charge Trump with anything post-election, but this is changing that equation. He just doesn’t realize how illegal all this election fuckery is and we all know what happens whenever anyone tells him he can’t do something because it’s illegal. Maybe we will bet able to cuff him on Election Day, after all.

Would using force to seize to depose the lawful President of the United States and the officials appointed under him constitute an act of war against the government?

No one knows. Least of all me.

What does “levying war” mean?

Only a court can tell you and if they have I am not aware of it (which also means nothing…IANAL).

Suffice it to say it is a very steep hill for a prosecutor to try to climb to get a conviction for treason.

This is great. :slightly_smiling_face: Keep singing this in my ear…loudly, so I can hear you over my own sobbing.

Is this why Barr was giggling through his whole statement?

It’s not theater; it’s an attempt to see how far they can push before people in their own party finally say that they’ve had enough.

The problem is, everyone in their party is standing around looking at each other, knowing that Trump just received nearly 72 million votes - 72 million. Disastrous COVID response and impeachment be damned. If Republicans were looking for a safe way to abandon Trump, they didn’t find it in the election that he lost, but very nearly won anyway.

The Republicans can’t abandon him because an overwhelming majority of the 72 million people who voted for him, at minimum, believe it’s possible that Trump, not Biden, is the real winner. And even if they accept that Biden got more votes, I’m sure they’ll complain that Democrats never gave Trump a fair chance, so why should they treat Biden fairly.

This is going to get nasty.

I suspect they see no downside to pushing this “Trump was cheated” narrative. Even if it fizzles out now, they cast a shadow of illegitimacy over Biden’s presidency. And if it doesn’t fizzle – if no one actually steps up and says, “Stop, this goes no further” – they have no reservations about unleashing blood in the streets.

This reminds me of the Stalin applause story (never, never stop clapping):

At the conclusion of the conference, a tribute to Comrade Stalin was called for. Of course, everyone stood up (just as everyone had leaped to his feet during the conference at every mention of his name). The small hall echoed with “stormy applause, rising to an ovation.” For three minutes, four minutes, five minutes, the “stormy applause, rising to an ovation,” continued. But palms were getting sore and raised arms were already aching. And the older people were panting from exhaustion. It was becoming insufferably silly even to those who really adored Stalin. However, who would dare be the first to stop? The secretary of the District Party Committee could have done it. He was standing on the platform, and it was he who had just called for the ovation. But he was a newcomer. He had taken the place of a man who’d been arrested. He was afraid! After all, NKVD men were standing in the hall applauding and watching to see who quit first! And in that obscure, small hall, unknown to the Leader, the applause went on – six, seven, eight minutes! They were done for! Their goose was cooked! They couldn’t stop now till they collapsed with heart attacks! At the rear of the hall, which was crowded, they could of course cheat a bit, clap less frequently, less vigorously, not so eagerly — but up there with the presidium where everyone could see them? The director of the local paper factory, an independent and strong-minded man, stood with the presidium. Aware of all the falsity and all the impossibility of the situation, he still kept on applauding! Nine minutes! Ten! In anguish he watched the secretary of the District Party Committee, but the latter dared not stop. Insanity! To the last man! With make-believe enthusiasm on their faces, looking at each other with faint hope, the district leaders were just going to go on and on applauding till they fell where they stood, till they were carried out of the hall on stretchers! And even then those who were left would not falter…Then after eleven minutes, the director of the paper factory assumed a businesslike expression and sat down in his seat. And, oh, a miracle took place! Where had the universal, uninhibited, indescribable enthusiasm gone? To a man, everyone else stopped dead and sat down. They had been saved! The squirrel had been smart enough to jump off his revolving wheel.

That, however, was how they discovered who the independent people were. And that was how they went about eliminating them. That same night the factory director was arrested. They easily pasted ten years on him on the pretext of something quite different. But after he had signed Form 206, the final document of his interrogation, his interrogator reminded him:

“Don’t ever be the first to stop applauding!” SOURCE

I suspect that the winds will stop blowing Trump’s sails after states stop their counting and begin certifying results. But he can do an awful lot of damage between now and January 20.

Here’s how I see it

Pence and Barr and that whole toxic Christian Coalition prayer circle crowd are evil, no doubt. Frankly, If Trump had won I’d be convinced they had committed fraud, they have no interest in an honest process and I can think of plenty of ways it could be done.

But this isn’t a sophisticated plot involving elaborate hacks that manipulated data or back doors in voting machine software inserted by partisan engineers. This is a Jacob Wohl level dumbfuck stunt, and those patriarchal motherfuckers like Pence have spent the past 4 years convincing themselves that they were put on this earth to serve Donald Trump in the war against secular humanism. When the fat asshole they consider their terrible swift sword got out of their control they convinced themselves it was all part of God’s plan.

It’s not that they wouldn’t mind overthrowing Democracy but Trump is expecting them to invalidate an election and give him four more years over some legal papers Rudy waved around in a bad neighborhood. But that’s a heavy lift for a God that doesn’t seem to like you much. It would’ve been way easier for God to help Trump win. Or he could’ve, you know, not sent a plague.

I don’t know if Barr knew he was going to shut down a troll campaign , or if God told him that the allegations that Rudy made in front of the lawn mower garage by the dido store were true, I suspect the latter, just out of wishful thinking. But I’m actually relieved to know that the government really isn’t going to refuse to discredit that evidence.

But I just laugh when I think of how convinced they were that they could Make America Great Again and swore to follow Trump to the ends of the earth, which turned out to be between a crematorium and a porn store.

It’s funny. We won, girl! His TRUMP PENCE 2020 KEEP FUCKING THAT RAT campaign may land a lot of his inner circle in prison. And no matter what he tells them now, he may decide not to hand out pardons. This isn’t a coup, it’s a huge fucking embarrassment to all the Republicans that said “TDS of course he’ll acknowledge that he lost you have so much TDS, he’s not crazy.

In the meantime, Trump ain’t Trump if he ain’t grifting. He’s just making a different promise to his marks everyday. They need money to take this to the Supreme Court where judges are certain to choose to make America Great Again -that’s not a real one ,but Trump probably thinks he can appeal to the Supreme Court and tell them about unfair investigations and the Russia Hoax and the judges will give him a second term. He’s probably calling Amy Coney Barrett and telling her that she needs to vote for him. Because he’s hearing shit like “the media doesn’t decide the race, judges do” . He’ll start tweeting at McConnell that the election should be invalidated because fraud long after all the fraud allegations are shot down. He’ll get more and more insistent. And, after all that, he may still get pissed that he doesn’t have his second term yet and ruin their chances in Atlanta with a tweet. That’s what they’re scared of.

Unless they manage to provoke someone into rioting. Really, it’ll be fine unless you do that p. Then the roof might fall in. We won, we can go high again for awhile.

Bolding mine.

Why in the world would you think that was ever going to happen? :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

IMO the GOP, by and large, will NEVER publicly accept that Biden won the Presidency. If the GOP retains control of the Senate, they’ll do nothing but obstruct and deny. You thought nothing got done when Obama was POTUS? HA! You ain’t seen real recalcitrance yet.

I think Biden being duped for eight years is highly unlikely. If he gets duped successfully during the first four, he won’t get a second four. That’s assuming he gets a first four.

Good point.

I really hope Biden isn’t duped for the next four years.

(Hell…I hope he doesn’t get duped for one day.)
