A judge he appointed is trying to stop him.
BREAKING: Trump just kicked out Signalgate Buffoon Mike Waltz…and made him the US ambassador to the United Nations. In White House shake-up, Mike Waltz fired as security adviser but nominated as U.N. ambassador - UPI.com
Presumably the UN Ambassador has to deal with sensitive information from time to time.
Don’t they have those special brief cases that can’t be searched, and don’t they travel a lot? Lovely, what a perfect choice. Signal gate was just a test to see if he was treasonous enough.
You know what Donald might be legitimately good at? Opening a school for Con Artists.
As you note, Bessent is shit at it. He can’t sell these idiotic excuses and rationales at all—he’s plainly uncomfortable. He utterly lacks Donald’s smooth assurance in the Art of the Lie. He can’t put over the con.
I don’t know–maybe Donald can’t teach. That would be unsurprising in that teaching takes both patience and empathy. But one of his offspring, perhaps, not so handicapped, could use the millions of clips and images of Donald-at-Work and create a curriculum of The Confidence Game.
Bessent should be forced to attend. His performance is really pitiful.
Is it time to resurrect …
??
The YouTuber LegalEagle just put a video out on how, for at least Hannah Dugan, what bullshit this is…and the FBI and DOJ have to know it too but they are doing this anyway. They have no case (or at best barely have one but that’s a stretch).
The police state is here. Now.
(27 minutes)
What, no “Art of the Con” courses?
“Look around the classroom. If you can’t see who the mark is…”
Yeah, they had an administrative warrant. She asked for a judicial warrant. They presented none. I mean, if she actually enabled his escape, I’m not sure if that’s appropriate, but jailing a local judge over this just seems insane.
Demanding adherence to due process is literally what judges are for.
She sent the guy out a different door which led him back to the public hall where the agents were waiting. If she was enabling his escape she did a terrible job at it.
I think the judicial vs. administrative warrant is a long running issue with ICE - there was a news story in my city recently about local police and correctional facilities refusing to turn over prisoners on a administrative warrants and insisting on judicial warrants.
They are probably trying to send a message to lots of people in local law enforcement with this arrest.
It’s been an issue for a very long time, at least ten years , probably more. One of the issues with sanctuary cities is that ICE wants jails to hold people past their ordinary release date based on administrative warrants ( or even a “courtesy hold ” with no warrant) and some cities /states will not hold someone without a judicial warrant.
This has been an issue here in NC for a while. A number of sheriffs have publicly stated that they will not cooperate with ICE requests to hold people based on administrative warrants, which of course has led to attempts to pass laws requiring them to do so. I think there’s one in the state legislature now, and there’s some question about whether the governor might veto it if it passes.
I’m waiting for ICE to start doing random raids on local jails where they suspect prisoners they want are being held.
Yeah, I’m in NC. My niece works at one of the county jails, I’ll need to ask her if she’s observed any situations.
So in today’s news, we’ve got this:
And also this:
So, no rights if you do end up in jail and you can be jailed for protesting.
If someone or something is going to stop Trump, now would be a good time.
The Newark mayor was apparently jailed for “trespass” rather than for protesting. This fits with the observations of some that the Trump Regime is (at least for now) trying to avoid openly using “dissent” or “protest” as rationales for arresting or harassing people.
That’s true in Putin’s Russia and in other dictatorships: the state accuses you of something OTHER than ‘annoying the dictator’ or protesting or uttering dissent. They use, instead, “trespassing” or “aiding terrorists” or “harboring fugitives” or some other made-up thing.
In Baraka’s case:
So Trump’s goons appear to have simply invented “trespass” as a charge. They also appear to be consciously using terminology connected with the actions of the Jan 6 Capitol invaders, in much the same way that Donald has tried to make “impeaching” a normal thing that happens to everyone:
Trump and his goons are putting into practice the lessons taught by Putin, Orban of Hungary, and others from further back in history: lie about your opponents and always pretend that YOU are behaving lawfully.
Wait, so they’d already be IN the jail? Fuck it, let 'em go for it, and shut the door behind them.
Yeah, I’d love to see ICE raiders arrested for trespassing, illegal seizures, assault, etc.
