The "arts" and the WTC

Yes, the WTC disaster was horrendous beyond belief.
Yes, those lost should honored with respect and dignity.

But why is Hollywood, tv, and such, taking this “let’s-pretend-the-WTC-never-existed” attitude, by “erasing” any images of it from film, shows, commercials, and so on? The Spiderman movie is one example. If it’s got to do with fear of capitalizing on a tragedy, why not just donate a portion of the proceeds to disaster aid, like Red Cross, etc. I personally don’t see anything tasteless about keeping the images, as long as it is not done in a disrespectful manner.
