The ASL on last night's ER

In last night’s ER, the Paul McCrane character (I’m blanking on his name) signed something to Reese (Benton’s son) - right after he told Peter to go spend some quality time at Chuck E. Cheese. Does anyone know what he said?

Yes, someone please tell us! I was looking down at the project I was working on and missed it. (Gotta go back to taping while I watch in case I miss stuff!) If I can report what what said, I’ll trump Mr. S’s having seen it.

“Take care of your father” is the translation I read. (I know “your father” was part of the message - “take care of” isn’t part of my vocabulary, but it does make sense)

I’m also pretty sure Reese signed back “ok.”

Thanks amarinth.

Isn’t it funny how Romano (I remembered, finally) is usually a world-class jerk but sometimes he lets his guard down and shows he’s human? Like when he got so upset at Lucy’s death. Last night, I thought he was starting off with his usual nasty arrogant self when he told Peter, “You’re not doing the surgery anymore, I am, so just go home.” Then he kind of softened and said to go spend time with his son and then signed to Reese when, of course, nobody could see him being a nice guy.

He ought to get together with Ling Wu - they’d make two of a kind. (You have to watch Ally McBeal to get this.)

I thought he said something like “your father needs you” which is basically the same thing, right? I’m new at sign language, so I’m happy I was close.
