On December 31, 1775, during the American Revolutionary War, Patriot forces under Colonel Benedict Arnold and General Richard Montgomery attempted to capture the British-occupied city of Quebec and with it win support for the American cause in Canada. The attack failed, and Montgomery was killed during the action. This was the first major defeat of the Revolutionary War for the Americans.

I don’t get it.

Rochambeau is another name for the game Rock-Paper-Scissors. It got that name because, legendarily, that’s how Washington, Cornwallis & Rochambeau decided who would be the last to leave the tent where the decision to end the war was made. (Rochambeau supposedly won.)

In current Urban slang (thanks largely to South Park), the name has transmogrified over to a game where two people kick each other in the nuts and the last one standing wins.

Thanks, Prof.

I knew about the rock-paper-scissors connection, but not the South Park um… twist.

Hmmm. I’ve read a lot about the Revolution, and have never heard that rock-paper-scissors story.
