The Bank Dick (1940): Moe?

About 20 minutes into the movie, when Egbert Sousé is walking out of the Black Pussycat Restaurant, reading the newspaper, he leans against a car, and the driver is none too pleased. It reminds me a little of Moe Howard, but you only see about half the face.

The IMDB listing has an extensive list of uncredited players (and in old movies like this, that’s often the result of someone who had access to production notes and records). Moe’s not listed, and the only possible person who might be the driver is David Thursby listed simply as having a ‘minor role’. But I’m not familiar enough with him to be positive about it.

But. . of course, big brother Shemp has an actual role in the movie, so that’s also probably influencing my eyesight.

The cast also includes Dolly Haas, wife of artist Al Hirschfeld and mother of “Nina,” famed as the girl whose father put her name in nooks and crannies in his drawings.

He does have Moe’s triangular face.

Yeah, that could well be the chap. I’m a little more inclined to believe he’s the angry motorist as opposed to Moe.

Yeah…as a lifelong fan of The Three Stooges I would more likely expect to see Moe in an “angry” role.

I just checked Mr. Howard’s filmography on IMDb, and that one isn’t his credits. As far as The Bank Dick is concerned(unless/until further evidence is brought forth) there just ain’t no Moe.
