The Bates Motel: Psycho Pre-Quel Series Starts Tonight On A&E

Was he telling the truth?

This has been the best Norma episode yet. She’s coming across really sympathetic. No question that crazy Norma is still lurking just below the surface. But she’s handling this stalker dude situation about as well as anyone could. But then she jumps into bed with Norman. Yikes. Didn’t it seem like somebody told that real estate agent not to sell Norma’s motel? I can’t imagine why anyone would force her to continue living there.

Bradley and Dylan make a good couple. Too bad it’s going to result in a major blow out with Norman. He’s not going to take that well at all.

Glad to see the final previews showing Norma getting a gun. Standing up to psycho guy seems like the only option. The sheriff doesn’t seem interested in protecting her.

Got a hunch we’re in for a cliffhanger. Then a long, long wait until season 2.

I wonder why Norman didn’t want to publish his story? I can’t imagine Norma caring one way or another. It doesn’t effect his relationship with her at all. It’s just a school writing project that gets published.

Any idea who the love letters (signed by “B”) to Bradley’s dad were from? What’s the hot teacher’s name?

My favorite part of the episode? Norma’s reaction to the name Ra’uf. (Only know it was spelled that way thanks to happening to see it in the credits)

“RA OOF?” lol

you know you’re in for a bad day when -

a) you piss off someone crazier than you
b) your crazy son calls you insane and tells you that you do things that make no sense.

Show is much better than I hoped and is growing on me - and that damn dog kept freakin’ me the hell out - his eyes - they kept following me!

They should do a spinoff about the adventures of Juno the stuffed dog.

Hey, regarding they silencing of swears, I saw a few minutes of a rerun during the late morning or early afternoon Sunday, and indeed, they were quite noticeably doing this. It was an episode I’d already seen and it definitely didn’t have those silences when I watched at like 2 or 3 am the night of the original airing.

A good season ending. Probably the best moment was Norma at the Psychiatrist. Wanting to know how to deal with stress. What kind of stress the doctor asks. Oh, you know, everyday stuff.

Seeing Norma try and hold it together throughout that day was just tragic and funny at the same time. She so desperately clung to that pasted on smile. She pasted that smile back on even when Emma came to pickup Norman. The pressure of knowing her big showdown with psycho guy was only a few hours away must of been overwhelming.

The sheriff is still somewhat of a mystery. He saved the day but is he a dirty cop? I guess we won’t know until season 2.

The only false note was the older brother disappearing. He knew Norma was being threatened and he didn’t stick around that night to help? That doesn’t seem very true to his character.
The big cliffhanger. Did Norman kill the school teacher or not? I don’t think he did. He didn’t seem that far gone in her house. Yes imaginary Norma was there but he wasn’t in the same blind rage that we saw when he attacked his brother.

Pretty sure it was the stalker guy that the teacher talked too on the phone. But of course Norman will get blamed and it may take awhile to clear him.
I just thought of this…
Norman likes to attack peoples heads with blunt objects. He hit his dad with a blender. He attacked Dylan with a meat tenderizer hammer. Each time aiming for the back of the head.

The teacher was strangled. Doesn’t fit and quite frankly Norman isn’t that bad ass yet. The teacher could have fought Norman off.

I’m convinced it wasn’t Norman.
It was nice of the teacher to pick up Norman in the rain. At first I thought the teacher had been at the school dance. But that underwear she had on was sexy bedroom playtime attire. I think she may have been with the mysterious Eric.

I’ve wondered what the Teacher really wanted from Norman? If he had followed her into the bedroom? She knew he was attracted to her and still left the door open. Actually that would have been an interesting ending too. I could see Norman in a relationship with an older woman. A short-term substitute for Norma. But Norman will always choose Norma over any other relationship.

I’m disappointed that they killed off the teacher. Her relationship with Norman was just getting interesting. They showed some of her personal problems. It would have been a fascinating character releationship to continue. The teacher had so much more potential for development than Bradley. Bradley has turned into the typical stereotype blonde that dumped Norman. There’s really nowhere else to go with Bradley. Are they going to use her to create problems between Norman and Dylan? That’s such an old, tired trope.

Interesting theories, aceplace57.

I found the finale a bit flat. Seemed more like ‘just another episode’, to me.

Executive producer Carlton Cuse’s comments on the last two episodes. His hints for season 2 are very interesting. I’m relieved that season 2 won’t be “Norman the psycho slasher”. It sounds like the focus will continue on the characters just like season 1.

Commentary Episode 9 Underwater.

Commentary Episode 10 Midnight.

Sheriff Eyeliner just got a whole lot more interesting. Can’t wait to find out what’s going on with him.

I didn’t think the murder of the teacher was supposed to be a cliffhanger, seemed pretty obvious it was Norman. (And her throat was slashed, she wasn’t strangled.)

Schoolteacher had a “B” necklace - there’s Bradleys dad mystery lover -

Obviously the show writers want us to think it was Norman, but there are atleast 2 other possibilities -

a) Bradley
b) Whomever she was arguing with on the phone.

She was definitely going for a ‘hot for teacher’ moment. How far the Fairy Godmother has fallen.

Favorite scene- “You can go home now, Norma”

As for the Sherrif - pretty sure he’s supposed to be a good cop, an actual good cop.

Pretty sure actual good cops don’t shoot suspects then toss them in the drink.

Also, remember, he was friends with a scuzbag like Keith Summers. Doesn’t necessarily make him bad, but birds of a feather…

Creepy Guy didn’t know him. I think the sex slave thing was just too ugly for him, and the guy’s sister will get drawn in if it goes to court.

Well, true - but he did toss the money too - or atleast the bag that had the money.

Creepy Guy opened it; did he see money?
