I just ran across Deep Purple’s Purpendicular, from 1996 with Steve Morse on guitar.

I had never heard of it, didn’t know any of the songs, never heard anybody talk about it.

It’s a great album.

‘the dreaming’ by kate bush. truly a masterpiece. freaky and psychedelic as all get out.

syd straw’s ‘surprise’ and ‘war and peace.’ awesome, the both.

Black Sabbath Vol. 4 or sabatoge

Let’s Cut the Crap and Hook Up Later On Tonight and Kids In Philly by Marah
Fun? by The Candyskins
Nurse by Therapy?

Well, of all the albums in my all-tie Tp 50, the one that sold the fewest copies was…

“Born to Laugh at Tornadoes” by Was (Not Was)

I’ve never seen nother album with such an eclectic cast of guest artists:

Ozzy Osbourne doing a rap number

Mel Torme singing a torch song about suffocation

The Knack’s Doug Fieger providing superb vocals o two songs tha DONTsound anything like “My Sharona” (who thought it possible?)

Along with:

Mitch Ryder
Wayne Kramer of the MC5
Pretty much an musician who ever lived in Detroit

Any Cracker album, like Forever for example.

Secret Treaties - Blue Oyster Cult

Don’t let their image or later stuff put you off - this is a masterpiece.

Ultra Vivid Scene - Joy: 1969-1990

oar by Skip Spence
Egyptology by World Party
The Blue Ridge Rangers by John Fogerty
Any and all Chris Whitley albums, but especially Terra Incognita

Here’s something very difficult to listen to, yet funny as hell. It’s not music though.

“Shakespear’s Lost Comedie” by the Firesign Theater

Love Over Gravity: A View From Inside
