The Best Concert, or Skerri goes full circle

So, a couple of years ago, I go see this band at this little indie festival type thing. I had heard of them before, and a few of my friends loved them. They kick ass. It was the most melodic, chaotic, exciting concerts I had ever been to. It becomes one of the greatest concert experiences of my life. I never look at another concert the same way.

A couple of weeks ago, I hear an ad on the radio. The same announcer that does the “SUNDAY SUNDAY SUNDAY!” comes on with his “quiet” voice on and says "Friday… October 12… Jane’s Addiction."
The original line-up, (even the bass player!) playing the same songs, some new stuff. The one band that forever changed my views on concerts and music in general.

And I’ve got 17th row seats.
I’m so happy I could scream.

Oh, and Dave Navarro… If there was one man that I would have a torrid one night stand with, it would be him, heroin junkie or not.

So, have you had an opinion-altering concert experience? Has there been one band that just changed your whole perspective on music? If you had the chance to go see them again after 10 years, would you do it? Even if the ticket prices were RIDICULOUSLY high? (Well, I consider $100 for 2 tickets ridiculous. But that would be TicketBastard, hard at work screwing the public.) Or, even if they didn’t really change your perspective, is there one band that you would love to see again?

I really don’t know how Tickefucker can get away with their > 30% service charge, but that is for another thread.

Not that anyone can relate to this, but I did get an opportunity to go back in time recently. There was a benefit concert in San Francisco last month called Thrash of the Titans where a dozen old-school thrash bands reunited for one night. Original line-ups and classic songs.

Death Angel, Forbidden, Heathen, Exodus, The Legacy (pre-Testament lineup), and the scariest band you’ll ever see, Vio-Lence played a 13 hour show. It was amazing and was like going back in time to hear those worn-out dubbed tapes again. I was too young and geographically removed from the Bay Area in the 80s to enjoy this the first time so it was a real treat to see all the bands come back for one last (?) hurrah !

Guess what Skerri?

I’m going to see the show tomorrow night here in Washington DC! For free! With my company’s VIP seats! And I’ve never seen them before in concert! Your post made me more excited than I have been all day. If it truly is a life-changing experience I can hardly wait. They’re playing with Live.

Oh and I agree about Dave Navarro… track marks or not he’s undeniably do-able.
