My fiancee and I will be in Vegas in a couple of weeks, and we’re looking for a something special for a buffet meal in Vegas. We want to find a buffet that has a superior quality and selection of desserts to try. She tends to like cold desserts that are fluffy. Chocolate is not a requirement. I tend to like hot desserts, and I despise chocolate. So the variety part is really important.
So what do y’all suggest? As many times as I’ve been to Vegas, I’ve been to very few of the buffets, and never with an eye on dessert. I’ve been to the ones at the Rio, Bellagio (many years ago), Paris (once, a few years ago) and several of the less-touristy hotels (Gold Coast, Sam’s Town, Texas Station). So I’m hoping to hear about lots of good places I’ve yet to experience.
I have to disagree.
The Wynn is good, but for half the price (and Wynn is VERY pricey) you can get a far better selection at The M Resort, located at the far, far, far South Strip (you will need a car, or take their shuttle from the Fashion Mall).
They make all of their desserts from scratch, including ice cream, and have a selection of goodies you would only find in better cafes in Europe. Plus, they have free wine and beer at lunch/dinner - and even a great root beer on tap to make your own root beer floats. They also make nice coffee drinks there - cappuccino, espresso, etc.
The M Resort is mostly a locals casino. So when you see locals happily standing in line for the buffet that can take 1-2 hours, you know it is good. The M Resort buffet has won “Best Buffet In Vegas” almost since the day they opened.
So yes, Wynn is quite good - but I still think M is better, and cheaper, and a far bigger selection of great desserts. BTW, if you don’t want to wait in the line at the buffet, there is a (somewhat pricey) shop called Baby Cakes that serves only desserts that look like an even fancier version of what they offer in the buffet area.
M is good, no doubt. We’ll be eating there in a few days, in fact. But Wynn still has an edge. You pay for it, but Asimovian wants something special. That means Wynn by a hair.
Now if you fold in value, free beer and wine, shorter lines, ease of line-jumping and general openness, M takes it easily.
The Wynn used to be my favorite, but we went back there a few weeks ago and it seemed kind of… hmm… mediocre?
HOWEVER… the buffet at the new Cosmopolitan Hotel, The Wicked Spoon, has awesome desserts. I thoroughly enjoyed everything I had. My bf did not care for the food as much as some other buffets, but he agreed that the desserts were second to none.
