The Best Of Star Trek.

Were there any particular stand out episodes for Russ and McNeil? I remember Russ’ Vulcan primarily as a guy who seemed to be straining to keep his eyebrows pointing in the right direction. Tim, aren’t they just glued on? Relax!

Well, he once used his lightning powers to save the Wonder Twins…

Tin Man is notable for having The Mayor as it’s guest star.

Good Tuvok episodes:

Learning Curve - Tuvok must train malcontent Maquis crewmen in the Starfleet way.
Prime Factors - A moral dilemma for Tuvok
Death Wish - Tuvok represents a renegade Q
Meld - Tuvok must solve a murder with no apparent motive
Future’s End - Tuvok in 1990s California!
Live Fast and Prosper - Impostors!
Repression - Tuvok must investigate a series of mysterious attacks upon the crew

Good Paris episodes:

Future’s End - Paris in 1990s California!
Worst Case Scenario - Mutiny!
Thirty Days - Paris disobeys orders
Bride of Chaotica! - FOOOOOOOOOL!!!
Alice - Paris obtains a mysterious new shuttle
Drive - A race

One of the best Vulcan scenes of all Trek was Tuvok speaking to the other Vulcan guy on Voyager who is going through pon farr. They are standing beside each other, but both stare out the view port since the subject they are speaking about is so private.

I’ve only seen a handful of Voyager episodes, but I watched Scorpion yesterday and liked it quite a bit. Since Paramount is now streaming on Netflix, has anyone heard anything about Star Trek being streamed, other than the movies? I could work my way through DS9 faster and pick and choose some Voyager and Enterprise episodes.

My geek transformation is complete. My TNG era uniform came in the mail today. Halloween needs to hurry up.

You should speak to your Priest, Minister or Rabbi.

Damn, I’m jealous. I used to have a blue uniform back in college. It has been long gone since.

The other day, WGN played **The Offspring **, where Data creates a child. The first time I saw it, I was teary-eyed. I still get a little misty.

Also:
Darmok
Conundrum
Sins Of The Father (and the follow up episodes)

DS9: The entire Dominion war was complicated but way cool. I love it when they blow up the spaceship models.

Voyager: There were a few good ones. I liked the one where Michael McKean played “Fear” and the crew went down to rescue the scientists from suspended animation. Also the three (?) episodes with Brad Dourif. Also Worst case Scenario.

Enterprise: Well, I guess the best ones I got are the reverse universe episodes where Archer takes over.

That’s all I’ve got off the top of my head.

One that ALWAYS makes me cry – and I mean full-on tears – is TNG’s The Inner Light, where Picard lives a whole other life, gets married, has children and a grandchild. That final scene on the planet when he figures it out makes me completely undone.

Another vote for “The Defector”, one of the great TNG episodes, as well as another vote for “Yesterday’s Enterprise”. Just the end of that episode… wow.

From DS9, I think you really have to watch “The Emissary”, which of course sets up the whole show, along with opening with the Battle of Wolf 359, the biggest curb-stomp battle in Trek history. Worth comparing to the intro to the new Star Trek movie as they feature similar situations played out differently. Also, “The Jem’Hadar” sets up the whole Dominion War arc, not to mention giving Quark another one of his awesome moments.

One of my favorite DS9 episodes is “Sacrifice of Angels”, but of course, that’s pretty deep into the Dominion War arc. I’m partial to it because it got me watching DS9 again (I only watched the show previously in its first season, before I pretty much lost interest and then became a Babylon 5 fan).

Oh, that reminds me, if you get her to watch DS9, I highly recommend you take the time to watch Babylon 5 with her (of course, B5 isn’t a show where there are episodes you must watch so much as there are a very small number of episodes that you can skip, such as TKO and Infection.) What makes for a fun game watching B5 and DS9 is seeing how many times the shows dip into the same pool of guest actors, and how often they end up playing basically the same role between them.

For Voyager, I gotta say, any episode with Captain Proton is an episode well worth watching. Basically Starfleet officers tooling around in a Flash Gordon knock-off. And Voyager gets at least a few points for setting up one of the funniest gags in Star Trek: First Contact.

Didn’t watch Enterprise enough to have favorite episodes, per se, but there were some moments I loved. Might actually have to watch that show some time. I hear it got good in the last two seasons, but by then most folks had stopped watching (pro tip: Almost every Star Trek series seems to suck for the first two seasons before they find their footing. Voyager evidently just kept floundering around on the floor.)

In regards to Worf, any time he talks about relationships or mating is comedy gold.

“The female screams at the male, and throws heavy objects. The male reads love poetry. He ducks often.”

What would that be? I’ve seen First Contact a bunch, but I’ve only seem a handful of Voyager episodes.

A friend of my has Sisko uniform from DS9. He bought it at the auction at Christies.
While checking out the stuff I got to touch the models for 1701-A B (small section where Kirk died) the D as well as Voyager (the nacelles really move) the shuttle from Enterprise and the Saratoga/Reliant.

DS9 is by far my favorite series of Star Trek. It worked very well on many levels. I liked every single character on the show, both the good and the bad guys. That show basically hit the ground running and never really slowed down. There were also a lot of humorous episodes.

TNG had some excellent episodes, but I skip a lot of them. I really like Data and Worf, any stories about them was usually well done. I wished they would of kept Diana Muldar as Pulaski and thrown Beverly Crusher and her stupid kid out of the airlock. I found Jonathan Frakes to be annoying. Picard had his moments, but his character should have been an English Literature teacher.

But Marina Sirtis. MMMMMMM. I just love her

I don’t like the TNG movies, at all.

I used to dump on Voyager a lot, but I have been watching that show again and have warmed up to it a bit. Janeway (Kate Mulgrew) is another MILF I have wood for. That show in my opinion got better as it went on, especially after 7 of 9 shot Jennifer Lein out of the airlock.

Save Enterprise for last.

See, we both loathe Diana Muldar and Marina Sirtis. Ditto Kate Mulgrew but just on my part, since the wife hasn’t seen any Voyager at all. I refuse to subject her to Enterprise in any way.

Ragu - She’s seen substantial parts of B5. I showed her “Passing Through Gethsemane” the first week we met, in fact.

“What is the nature of the emergency?”

“Twenty Borg drones are about to smash through that door, we need a diversion!”

“I’m a doctor, not a doorstop!”

To be honest though, as soon as he popped up, the entire theater just started rolling. I think it was the unexpectedness of a Voyager character showing up (well, a reasonable Facsimile of one)

Oh, duh, I knew that! A friend of mine watched a Voyager episode after seeing First Contact and yelled “It’s that guy from First Contact!”

You can’t go wrong with any of the Q episodes.

And the Deep Space Nine that was incorporated into The Trouble with Tribbles.

Dax in the TOS era uniform!
Mmmmmmm, fanservice.

TNG: Yesterday’s Enterprise. Nuff said.

DS9: Tacking Into the Wind. Best commando mission in Star Trek history plus Worf vs. Gowron.

VOY: Equinox Part 1. Voyager finds another Starfleet ship only to find out that the crew has been fueling their ship with subspace creatures that poop antimatter when set on fire. I thought this episode really captured the dynamic of Voyager-as-family. Great character moments for almost everyone.

ENT: Observer Effect. Trip and Hoshi die while an advanced race watches. Absolutely nails the spirit of Star Trek. Scott Bakula nailed this one with his best performance in the entire show. In A Mirror Darkly was good too but kind of cheesy. “Bridge is youuuuuuuuuuurs, captain!”
