The best single shot in a TV episode

Lost, the final shot of season 1. The hatch has been blown open. Camera pans down into the shaft. Fade to black.

The “Frasier” episode when they pan to Eddie. The dog.

My So Called Life, the first episode towards the end when Angela is talking to Brain on a residential street and tells him “this is a pathetic scene.” It was beautiful.

And one of the moments leading up to that, in The Coming Of Shadows – Londo, after talking to Lord Refa, is mulling over Refa’s comment that his faction needs some attention-getting achievement to win the struggle for power that will break out when the Emperor dies. Londo thinks out loud about Morden’s earlier offer (“Pick a target, he said.”), and Vir desperately tries to talk him out of it:

“Londo, don’t do this.”
“I have no choice.”
Yes, you do. Londo, please, please, please, I know you don’t listen to me, but I’m asking you just this one time. Don’t do this. There is no turning back once you start down that road.”

In dramatic presentations the actor should never look at the camera. It is called “breaking camera” and it is considred a no-no because why would Benjamin Sisko be looking at YOU? But he pulled it off at the end of that ep. Christopher Reeve did the same thing at the very end of Superman.

But Jim Halpert hasmade it cool again .

Agreed. Llondo was always my favorite character. The depth they went with him in his deals-with-the-devil were, quite frankly, amazing. I often said, “He’s a character that always has a chance to do the right thing, and never does them. Not because he’s mean or evil, but because, despite being an alien… He’s human.”

Anyway, something I wanted to add, that I -think- was in that particular scene, or something like it… Llondo and J’kar are looking down at a planet that’s being utterly annihilated… There’s an out-take where they’re looking down, and realizing it’s an entire planet’s ecosystem being wiped out. They have the look of horror… And out of nowhere, J’kar says…
“I blame that damn el ninyo!”
(Llondo absolutely loses it.)
