The BEST Steve Buscemi Role

Where is pancakes house?

Amen. That entire scene with that little girl near the swimming pool is hilarious for so many wrong reasons (not least of which is the unnerving facial resemblance between the two). And yes the “whole world in his hand” song too, and the Lynard Skynard ironic observation.

I think the broadcast version has her surviving, am I right? Or does she survive in the uncensored version too?

She survives either way.

As memorable as his role in Con Air was, his role is far, far more IMPORTANT in any one of Ghost World, Fargo, Reservoir Dogs or Trees Louge; in those movies Buscemi is on screen a lot, has to provide some nuance, and is a driving force in the narratives.

I’d go with Ghost World.

Ah you’re right of course. I’ve only seen that movie once. Boy, was that a bad date movie! But it was memorable.

Little girl:Are you sick?
SB: Yes.
LG: Why don’t you take medicine?
SB: There isn’t any medicine for what I’m sick with.

From memory.

I know they showed the little girl waving at the plane taking off in the Theatrical Release. I had the idea that it was a way to keep the ending from being ‘too dark.’ I thought they should have left it a bit more ambiguous. I don’ remember him covered with blood when he got back to the plane. But I believe talking to her was why he sang the Sunday School song.

Guess I need to see Ghost World.

I voted Reservoir Dogs.

I didn’t know the backstory for his role in Pulp Fiction. It took me a few minutes to remember that one.

I would also vote for Fargo, Airheads and Con Air. And the Sopranos “Pine Barrens”.

Con Air. And what did he play in Monsters Inc.?

Ugh, I hated HATED **HATED **Ghost World and didn’t care all that much for Pulp Fiction. Yes, yes, the chronological hook was kind of intriguing. Other than that, oh and Travolta And Jackson, who are good in almost anything, blech.

Loved Fargo, but haven’t seen the Big Lebowski. But the OP asks about Buscemi roles, not Buscemi “movies”.

The bad guy.

Just saw Reservoir Dogs for the first time last night… yeah, kind of a late bloomer. Anyway, I thought he was insanely good in it. I was seriously surprised. I’m used to him being a slightly better version of Rob Schneider… but damn, he can act!

I also loved him as Randal in Monsters Inc. He was perfectly slimy as the lizard-like Randal… awesome. Then again, that’s probably my favorite kid’s movie in the last 10 years.

That’s my favorite Sopranos episode I had no idea he directed it. As far as the poll goes Fargo’s my first choice.

Happy Gilmore?

He did the voice of Randall, the multilegged lizard who could turn invisible or blend into whatever he was on, like a chameleon. He was Sully’s (John Goodman) not-so-friendly rival in collecting children’s screams for the company, always coming in second in the daily tally.

John Goodman… hey, another Lebowski connection! Never thought of that before.

If we’re including voice roles, I thought he rocked as Scamper, the unkillable rabbit in Igor.

Mink, in Miller’s Crossing, defines him for me.
On The Sopranos, I was always expecting to hear him say “…for a Sheenie, he’s got a lot of good qualities.”
Actually, on everything that he’s been in, that’s what I was expecting to hear.

Best wishes,
hh

Nother Con Air vote.
