The Big Bang Theory - "The Raiders Minimization" (10/10/2013)

I couldn’t find it on replay, but I think the word was intended to beverklempt.

She said: “Oh my god, you still go left.” Because Leonard favored the left breast when breast feeding and now apparently still favors it when having sex with Penny.

Why couldn’t this have been put in the already existing thread on the show?

Sheldon was being a complete ass after the movie. He essentially demanded that Amy agree that Raiders was the best movie ever made. There was nothing wrong with her pointing out the plot hole.

Speaking of which, did anyone else think she was going to question how Indy survived on the German submarine?

Actually, no. I’ll grant that Marian would have died without Indy’s intervention, but if he’d kept his nose out of the affair after rescuing her the first time (and drawing her into the ultimately pointless quest), the Nazis would still have gotten the Ark and been killed by it.

Not that it matters to me. I still like the movie, and it’s because I like watching Indiana Jones be a swashbuckler with a suppressed but vibrant heart. For people who insist on plot as the prime element in a story, the fact that Indy’s efforts ultimately do nothing to affect the war or further the study of the ark is a flaw, but I think that’s a misreading.

I thought that too. But I think her exact words were that the film had a “fundamental” story problem, so she named the correct issue.

It could have, if I had seen it first.

Anyway, thanks for answering the question. I listened to the line three times, and I still couldn’t make out what she was saying.

AFF was in a bad mood because she was expecting to loose her virginity. she is on the 5 year plan, i haven’t tracked back for where it would be now.

maybe if Penny gets/stays mad at Leonard and Sheldon doesn’t warm up then AFF may rekindle the hots for Penny and give it up to her. Bernie is mad at Howard now too. maybe a girl night out will turn into a threesome.

A new addition to my vocabulary. You’re a real mensch, dude!

She could have given a neutral “meh” without completely ruining the movie for her boyfriend. See, when you’re in a relationship, you’re supposed to strive not to hurt the person you’re with. AFF forgot/ignored this basic tenent of relationships. She only went out with Sheldon to appease her mother. I’m sure a microbiologist has the means to live on her own, and not cowtie to her mother’s expectations.

Me thinks you need to lay off the porn.

  1. She does live on her own.

  2. It’s “kowtow.”

  3. She was expecting something completely different. She also didn’t set out to ruin the movie. My take was that she spotted the basic hole in the plot and figured Sheldon had too, otherwise she wouldn’t have mentioned it.

  4. Leonard says to Penny later something to the effect that he was going to surprise her and go right this time.

I’ll give you a topic: The Holy Roman Empire was neither Holy, Roman, nor an Empire. Discuss.

I think Kimballkid has it right. I’ll misinterpret things in that same way, the sound hits my ears, doesn’t make a good connection, and I lose the context. Happens a lot if I’m not looking at the TV when I hear something.

What did everyone think of last night’s episode?

Is there a reason why Bernadette was so bitchy?

sil-I agree she said it assuming he picked up on it.

There’s already a thread here.

  1. Amy should not have shared her opinion, they are in a relationship, she knows he loves the movie and she knows Sheldon. She didn’t do it maliciously, but it was thoughtless.

  2. Sheldon however, was being an ass on purpose, so while Amy was thoughtless, Sheldon was trying to be cruel. Amy was absolutely right in that he should have just told her it upset him.\

  3. Bernadette…ugh…so bitchy

  4. Penny in a teddy…yes please

  5. Stuart could go to Comic-con, play up that he owns a comic book store and have no problem meeting girls. The one thing most annoying about the show for me is the idea that girls don’t like comic books or video games or anime or any of that stuff.

Oops! Somehow I missed it. A moderator can feel free to close my thread…

Three different threads have been merged into this one. The continuity may be a little funky.

GO-Malicious or not, she’s still in the wrong here. She knew it’s his favorite movie, and as even you concede, she shouldn’t have said anything. If people don’t want people to do bad things to them, a good start is to not do bad things to them.
