Boston’s multi-billion $ nightmare finished Dec.31-coming in at (drum roll)-$14.85 Billion! (Only 1600% over budget!) Now the real fun starts:
-the tunnels are leaking, over 650 leaks in the Central Artery tunnel
-as salt water leaks into the tunnel, reinforcing steel rods rust and cause the concrete to crack
-the jerry-built curtain walls shift under the loads above, and new cracks open up
-major portions of tiled walls are cracking loose and breaking off-the tunnel looks like it is 30 years old already
-wiring sags from the ceiling-and starys holding the wiring are loosening and failing
My prediction: the citizens of MA are in for an enormous hosing- repairs will shortly be needed…meanwhile, the corrupt politicians who authored this disaster will be retred in Florida.
I can see the hearings at the state House (ca. 2012): “where are the records”
Answer “we can’t find them, they seem to have diasppeared”!
Oh well, maybe the state will have a party to celebrate! :smack:

I’ll have to go walking down that way soon. They hustled to get the old highway torn down before the Democratic convention in '04, and then it has taken three more years to plant grass.
I heard/read something just today about that. Confuses me, 'cause I was pretty sure it was already in use and getting people squished by concrete tiles already. :dubious:
