Great answer but a few weren’t correct. I would add that I am sourcing one Wiki entry (obviously I won’t say on whom) so we could have a few debates on this.

BTW the correct answer wins nothing. If I can remember the correct answer tomorrow.

Nitpick: The British Invasion band who did “House of the Rising Sun” was the Animals. Eric Burdon and the Animals was the psychedelic band who did “Sky Pilot,” and apart from Burdon was a completely different band. (Actually the first album credited to Eric Burdon and the Animals was really an Eric Burdon solo project recorded with session musicians.)

The Who didn’t blow up until Monteray and the Smothers Brothers show. Pictures of Lily and Happy Jack were flops in the States.
