The Buck Stops Here - Trump's health care failure

You owe me one keyboard.

Massive, genuine LOL! Nice one!!

Coincidentally, a recent poll (linked in two other threads) shows support for the bill is 30%.

No, it’s not Trump’s fault. He has only been President 2 months. In contrast the Republicans have been in control of the House for 6 years. They had 6 years to write and develop a consensus replacement plan. In January of last year the House and Senate passed an Obamacare repeal bill and sent it to the President. This should have been a repeal and replacement bill–a bill which other than changing a few dates (because it is another year later) should have been easily passed and ready for Trump’s signature.

Har. No Democrat was ever going to vote for that. But they are a minority. It was the Republicans that (almost) all claimed they hated Obamacare and would vote it out at the first chance they got. Since they couldn’t even muster up enough votes amongst themselves to actually vote out the thing they’ve been screaming for years was destroying the country, then yeah, the “blame” goes squarely on the GOP. But I doubt most 45 fans think that deeply about it. At most they think 45 “exaggerates,” but they seem to take everything he says at face value even if it makes no sense at all.

^This.

You’re just missing the final step which is that he does everything in his power to wreck to healthcare system while he’s in power, so he claim that he was prescient about Obamacare’s collapse.

Supposedly Bannon told the Freedom Caucus. “This is not a debate. You have to back bill”

If this is true–and I believe it is–then I feel a bit relieved. Bannon is evil, but he’s clearly incompetent. I wonder where Rience was in all of this.

Removed stray quote to fix link

“We have a President who can’t close a deal! Sad!”

You thought that was a joke, right?

Trump responds to health care setback by sitting in big truck, honking horn.

To be fair, they were pretty sure a Democrat was going to be elected POTUS.

I’m pretty sure that’s what he was referencing.

I can’t believe what a pussy he is.
So weak.

Curled up with a bottle of scotch. Priebus has been working with these people for years now. He knows what they’re like.

Slightly more seriously though - it seems that someone who truly was a great negotiator might have been able to push through something, somewhere. Perhaps telling the Freedom Caucus to stuff it, tacking left, and putting up something that moderate Democrats couldn’t say “no” to. Perhaps offering the FC something that makes it worth holding their nose & voting “yes” on this. But it seems that the extent of his negotiating prowess was to call them into a room at the last second, whine, and give a completely ineffectual order. The “art” of the deal is a finger painting.

Yes, it is Trump’s fault. If his House Republicans had not developed a passable bill he shouldn’t have backed it. As noted above, my OP referenced Truman. The buck should stop there. He’s the fucking president.

What he is not (though apparently thinks he is) is king. Stuff won’t happen just because he wants it to. That’s ok though, I don’t mind him taking a run at something stupid and having it shot down by cooler heads. But for fuck’s sake when he does and falls on his face be a god damned man about. Don’t be a pussy, don’t blame others.

Harden up, bro.

You can be 100% sure, yes.

I think the whole thing is hilarious. Your party owns the White House, the Senate and HOR yet you cant even overturn Obamacare. Maybe these next 2 years wont be so bad after all!

You have to admit he was right about that one thing all along though. Nobody can repeal and replace Obamacare like him.
