[*]If you wanted good-lookin’ FirstKids, you should have voted for Gore. Damn! His girls are fine! [/list]

I second that emotion.

This is such a snotty thing to say. Maybe I interpreted it wrong, but are you saying that kids at public colleges are far inferior to their private school counterparts?

Sorry, I can see how that came across as pretty snotty. FTR, I attend a public school, so I have nothing against them. However, if I had my choice, I’d pick Stanford over UT becuase I think it’s a better school.

Just so you know, this story made it into the Australian newspapers too…
And I paused to wonder how two girls with such high public profiles expected to get away with using a fake ID. I’m guessing their pictures have been all over the media in the last few months, and few people would not recognise them, especially combined with Jenna’s little effort the other week (which also made people aware of her age). I guess they haven’t got used to being public figures yet.

President Select Bush is the greatest thing for the Second American Revolution since President Regan drove America into hopeless debt. Even better than the first Republican president who destroyed the Union of States and created another tyranny.

But a couple of adult college students attempting to buy a beer is just too trivial to discuss.

All I know is, if I were under 21, I would be saying, “Thanks bitch, for ruining it for everyone!”

I heard one of them tried to grow a mustache to look older. Worked for their grandmom.

Alcohol and young Bush… I love this topic.

justwannano:

Care to defend your implication that anything done “in private” can be condoned? And anyway, the Whitehouse is, technically, a public building.

And police cars are, technically, public property; however, I don’t suspect I’ll get to use one if I approach the local police and ask if I can take one for a spin.

Who said I was condoning?

Well I just looked up the word public.Hey guess what? When you insert the word “in” in front of it it takes on my intended meaning.

I wonder why it is said Republicans have no sense of humor?

Damnit, it’s funny!

“Hi, I’d like two beers please? ID? Sure! I’m Jenna B. . . I mean Morgan Fairchild. Yeah, that’s the ticket. Those guys following me around, talking into their sleeves? Oh, they’re umm, my fan club. Yeah, my fan club. Of course you recognize me. I’m Morgan Fairchild. . …”

Just what did you mean then, justwannano? I’m afraid that you’ve lost me entirely.

“Bush Twin-powers, activate!”

“Form of… a FAKE ID!”

“Shape of… a strong moral fiber!”

Jenna went to a public place so all the world could see her.

Bill was in a public place, not being able to get away, he found a private area.

Again, how does this make what Bill did excusable?

How does anything I said make you think I think it was excusable.
FWIW
I try not to judge the actions of others lest they judge mine. And I don’t really want that to happen.
Sometimes I do if I think they are silly, blown out of proportion ,stupid or not clearly thought out or ,as in this case used to compare two completely different things.

yeah, i’d pick stanford over UT because it’s not in Texas. no offense to any Texan Dopers.

as far as the gals’ predicament, well, i just find the whole thing to be pretty funny. i’d say i have kind of a lot of experience in the underage-drinking department, and you just don’t go into a bar armed with nothing but a recognizably fake ID and expect to succeed in buying a drink. especially if you’re famous. especially if you’ve just recently gotten caught for the same offense, (not that i have any experience with those particular conditions) and especially if you’re the offspring of the moral compass of the free world, to belabor a phrase. though i wouldn’t expect a 19 year old with dubya’s genes to be in an intellectual state to take that last condition into account. not to belittle her/them-- i’d probably do my share of “screw that” behavior if i was in that situation myself.

but it’s just so dumb.

okay, well, some offense. but just a little.

I’ll tell you why. It basically says that the family did not instill enough values, common sense, or class in their daughters. He (our President the Shrub) has no control over them. If he can’t even control his own daughters, how do we expect him to govern the country?

Oh, and let us not forget he admitted his drinking got out of hand, but never said he had a problem or got counseling. Now, the pattern seems to be repeating itself, but nothing is being done. Seems like Cleopatra is not the only Queen of Denial (yet another not good characteristic for the leader of our country).

And, yes, I’m anti Bush.
