The Canadian Dollar

So, would any economists (professional or otherwise) care to speculate when the Canadian Dollar is going to stop its nosedive against the US dollar?

Does anyone know why the US$ appears to just be getting stronger against all currencies? (Not only Canadian?)

Thanks!

IANAE(economist):

But my guess is that the dollar isn’t rising against other currencies so much as it isn’t falling as fast (giving the illusion of rising).

The US and Japan account for something like 40% of the world’s GNP. The US is skating downward and Japan is having a really rough go of it (they’ve never really shaken their economic woes of the 90’s and it seems to be worsening again).

When the US and Japan slide everyone else seems to generally slide worse. The US is a net importer of goods and when we slow down so goes the world (in general).

I’m sure they would. Feel free to open a thread in a forum where speculation is called for. IMHO comes to mind.
