The Celebrity Death Pool 2004

Captain Lance Murdoch is apparently the Ken of the Celebrity Deathpool

Jeff Smith and I share an alma mater – he went to seminary where I went to grad school (Drew Unversity in NJ). /end pathetic and really quite irrelvant aside

Maybe he is Ken.

Nope, nobody picked Jeff Smith.

Okay, I was on Jeopardy!, but I’m not Ken. He’s 27 (and counting) victories ahead of me. I only wish the death pool payed as well!

Is it possible to win the Quantity and Quality award? All I can say to the remaining nine people on my list is I hope your affairs are in order!

My secret? Don’t pick Gwyneth Paltrow.

By the way, Isabel Sanford shed her vail of tears today. Anyone have her?

Nope, nobody picked Isabel Sanford.

I suspect no one had him, but we whizzed past the death of author William Manchester on June 1 (damned local paper doesn’t cover diddly any more).

Likewise for New York Dolls bassist Arthur Kane.

Errr…“likewise” that probably no one had him, not that he died June 1st.

Nope, nobody picked either Manchester or Kane.

Billionaire philanthropist/conservationist/venture capitalist Laurance Rockefeller shuffled off this mortal coil last Sunday. He was 94.

Nope, no Rockefellers on the list.

Well heck, everyone knows Rockefellers don’t die - they just transmorgrify into oil.

Hollywood composer Jerry Goldsmith has died, but nobody picked him.

He was primarily a celebrity in France (and somewhat less so in England), but singer and songwriter Sasha Distel passed away this week aged 71. If anyone picked him, I’d be very, very surprised.

Nope, nobody picked Sasha Distel.

The BBC is reporting that Francis Crick, co-discover of the DNA matrix, has died at age 88.

That’s 12 points for two players, **amarone ** and lel.

Err, make that “double-helix” instead of “matrix.” :smack:

And with the death of Francis Crick, amarone and lel are now tied with 19 points each.

Thanks for pointing this one out to me, Spiff.

Wow, 7 points. Well, that’s not too bad for a first timer, I suppose.

I wanted to report it first! I had “shuffled off this mortal helix” all ready. I’ll have to reserve that one for Watson (who I also chose to denature this year).
