The Celebrity Death Pool 2005

Vunder is a necro slut…and I’m still a virgin.
I’m so depressed.

Mystery writer Charlotte MacLeod has died at age 82. I got all excited when the search engine picked up a MacLeod, but alas it was former Love Boat Captain Gavin MacLeod. No one had either Charlotte MacLeod or Zhao Ziyang. (Zhao had been in seclusion for 15 years; who knew?)

Damn, I’m good. I hadn’t heard that he croaked until I checked this thread. May he be at peace, because cancer is such a rough way to go,

Shirley, you’re not a virgin. You’ve scored in other pools in other years. The definition, since it’s my term, means someone who’s never scored at all. When I made it up, I still hadn’t scored.

You’ll just have to find something else to use to pick on me. It might take you 30 seconds of hard though to come up with something else.

Virginia Mayo is Gone

So has Ruth Warrick, known better as Phoebe Tyler Wallingford from All My Children and Emily Kane from Citizen Kane.

Guinean President Lonsana Conte just survived an assassination attempt.

So close, so close.

Note to self: spread Blanket Of Death wider for next year’s pool.

We should start picking more international leaders and celebrities. They tend to die more often. I assume this is what you mean?

I’m pretty sure everyone missed out on 69 points . As reported by Eve, Cafe Society’s Angel of Death.

Johnny Carson died! How sad - he was a legend!

Very mixed feelings about Johnny Carson - my first Death Pool points ever, but I miss him already!

Who had him?

Crap.

He was in my top 20. I figured I had no chance because he was an avid tennis player. Emphysema is a bitch. RIP, Johnny.

Anybody have Rose Mary Woods

I feel so bad in a good sorta way. Johnny Carson is the first person I ever picked who actually died. I 'm gonna miss him, even though he’s been in virtual hiding since he quit doing the tonight show

I apologize for falling behind on my scorekeeping duties! I will post an update very soon. Really.

If anyone deserves a break in the score keeping, it is you!

Thanks in advance for keeping track of all this!

Yes. It is a shame. He was a comic genius and the world will be less funny without him in it. I’m done with that now. That’s 21 points, yo.

I did, sadly. I am late posting to it, because I had hoped he was a “just in case but probably not”. He will be missed. :frowning:

Renowned architect Philip Johnson has died. He was only worth 2 points, but to any Twin Cities dopers his work has a (literally) massive presence in our lives.

Also, I just found out that painter Tom Wesselmann died in December. Damn you mainstream media for not doing a better job of reporting this!
