Pete Doherty is never going to make it through the year, get my points ready. In court on burglary charges, continuing spiral into drugs hell, all the signs are there…
Max Schmeling has taken his final count…
I apologize if I missed it somewhere in this thread, but is there a site somewhere listing everyone’s picks, like there was last year?
John Vernon (72) is dead. And Canadian, I was surprised to learn.
:smack: Figures. I had him on my list last year, but dropped him this time around.
Did you need one point that bad? Hardly worth the keystrokes.
All that and he’s shagging Kate Moss. There’s no justice I tells ya.
(He’s on my list too).
No, not yet – sorry.
Exactly. That’s why I dropped him.
But I still think it’s damn unfair of him, hanging on an extra year like that, seeing how I was going after quantity over quality last time.
Nobody picked John Vernon or Max Schmeling.
I just heard an unconfirmed report on the radio that Ossie Davis has died. According to the IMDB, he was 87.
Yes, he has died. Nobody picked him.
I agree, death is unfair. Did I mention I am still bitter about Jerry Orbach? Couldn’t hold out for three freaking days. I know, let it go.
I’m sure nobody will have chosen Ernst Mayr for zero points, but the great man’s passing should not go unnoted.
I’m sorry to say I’d not heard of him. by just googling around a bit I got a huge number of hits.
But personally I can say it bums me out. I looked up his birthdate, 7/5/1904. He was not quite 5-1/2 months older than my grandmother, who is still with us.This news reminds me to cherish what time I have left with her.
I’ll bet no-one picked Georgia’s Prime Minister Zurab Zhvania. 59 points went a beggin’ there.
Aww, crap. I had him on the first draft of my list, and then I dropped him. I figured he’d hang on a while longer. I could’ve used the 13 points.
If anyone picked President Gnassingbe Eyadema of Togo, they can cash in 39 points. It seems unlikely, though.
Even though nobody picked Karl Haas, I believe that the passing of the man merits mention in this thread. Haas, a pianist and conductor most noted for his syndicated Adventures in Good Music radio program, has died at the age of 91.
The world of music has also lost Merle Kilgore, who managed Hank Williams Jr. and co-wrote Ring of Fire with June Carter before she became Mrs. Johnny Cash.
