The Celebrity Death Pool 2010

Did you have Michael Jackson last year? :slight_smile:

It is entirely possible to have someone that every grabs as part of jumping on a bandwagon, without actually doing any jumping yourself. I did have Michael Jackson last year, because he has been on my list since the first year I played the game, in 2003. The fact that the rest of you horned in on my points the way you did, just shows how rude you are.

So there!

What about ::

If you are the Nth person to post a person’s name, your score is 100 - (That person’s age + -N)

or some-such?

Did I ask you, Mister Sunshine? :slight_smile:

I probably did the math wrong there.

There is a point discount based on how many people came before you.

A fond farewell to Howard Zinn! My gosh, NPR will be running things about him and the State of the Union address all day tomorrow. I had better call in sick…

I kind of like that. It limits the value of the bandwagon effect, and it encourages people to post their lists sooner.

Points = 100 - Age - N

If a celebrity dies at age 75, and you were the tenth person to post him on your list, you would get 15 points.

I don’t believe points should be awarded other than 100-AGE.
Awards for “First guy to pick a German speaking Lithuanian” are ok, but points are points.

I think your formula should be modified to PLUS N. Recognizing a good bandwagon when you see one is a skill that should be rewarded.

Yeah that’s what I meant for it to be.

Again, I think it will be more work than worth it.

Also, would we entertain, that the first 2 followers [3 total] get in for “free” but the 3rd follower or so gets the above equation.

I found out about Zelda through my own research, but how many are going to believe that? Imagine my sadness when after I posted my list I realized she wasn’t a unique pick for me. :frowning:

Yeah, I actually don’t read the thread till after I post my list.

y’all are trying real hard to make the scorekeeper’s life miserable, aren’t you?

Then again, how hard was it to add 35 points for The Legend of Zelda ? 35 times?
(Sorry, that was there, had to take it.)

Nope.

Thank you. Interesting though the suggestions are, it’s far too much work for me.

Okay, so I have read the reports about the iPad. I understand totally that it is yet another bit of new-fangled technology that I don’t need or want (unless it will also mow my lawn). But all the news reports ignored the most important question: “How healthy did Steve Jobs look?”

NPR was blogging it live and said he looked thin, but healthy.

:smack: And my confusion on anyrose and amarone continues.

He’s got the iPancreas rocking.

As I said, Anyrose is the attractive one.
