The Celebrity Death Pool 2010

Maybe the 1969 Mets.

Daniel Shorr at 93.

The Story at NPR.

Two out of three of my alts have bought it. Nancy Reagan had better be careful.

Looks like Zsa Zsa Gabor is definitely circling the drain.

If she goes seven people get points.

Two people had him.

Anyone have both Gabor and Shorr?

No.

1972 and 1982 world snooker champion Alex “Hurricane” Higgins dies aged 61

That makes it two in 11 days for me.

39 points. A good choice.

I had someone whom I respect tell me I was weird, and “sort of crazy” for playing this game. I guess people don’t get the humor. We aren’t wishing people would die.

If I was a celebrity, dying, elderly, sick, or whatever, I’d think it was a hoot if folks put me on their list. Go out with a laugh, that’s the best way. I’d like to have champagne served at my wake, not coffee and cookies.

Unfortunately, we can’t do th…er, it’s against the rules.

MrWhatsit has respectfully requested that I keep Death Pool discussion to myself, as he finds it slightly creepy and morbid. I find that generally people fall into one of two broad categories: those who think it’s borderline offensive/weird/etc, and those who want to know where they can sign up.

the first two years, my Cousin thought it was sick, then she just accepted it - lately, though, upon hearing of a celeb’s death, her first thought is “I wonder if anyrose has him/her on her list?”

Gospel singing legend, Doug Oldham, on July 21, age 79- http://www.singingnews.com/Southern-Gospel-News/11635245/

I believe that is grounds for divorce in New Jersey and the Territory of Puerto Rico.

Or you could go the other route – sign up as a member here, just to screw all of us over.

A little late, but on July 13, Vernon Baker, the only African American to have received the Medal of Honor while still alive, passed away at age 90 after a protracted battle with brain cancer.

Hail and farewell, Lt. Baker. Hail and farewell.
At least the other Medal of Honor laureate on my list, Tibor Rubin, is still alive.

I am glad e saw Clinton and Obama as Presidents.

Especially when you see that he was discouraged, when he first tried to enlist for WWII.

Hell of a lot of changes since then.

John Callahan, the quadriplegic cartoonist whose politically incorrect humor often played on handicaps, has died at the age of 59. Indicative of his sensibility was the title of Callahan’s account of his life – Don’t Worry, He Won’t Get Far on Foot: The Autobiography of a Dangerous Man.

Noooooooooo! Oh, that’s awful. Still, he’s lucky he didn’t die at 21, so 59 is pretty darn good. And that bio is on my Addiction and Recovery list. That, The Lost Weekend, Drinking: A Love Story, and Random Acts of Badness. (Didn’t dig Prozac Nation; sorry.)
