I think this is my cherry for this year. I’ve had him on my list for at least the last 3 years.
They appear to be lots of young actors and singers and athletes, as one would expect. Ambitious little punks, aren’t they? When I was 17 I went to school, watched TV and occasionally baby-sat.
Maybe there should be a wiki category for sitting on babies. ![]()

The more frustrating thing is, save Fanning, I didn’t recognize a single name on the list.
If you are going for the points grab*, then I guess this list is great, but let’s not detour into “What makes someone a celebrity” conversation again.
Not that my list is doing anything, but haven’t most of the points this year [and in all years] been from the 75-80 and older set? alternately wouldn’t one or two 18-20 year olds be enough?
- I guess you could argue that the points grab would be in making a list exclusively with the older than 90 set, but this would actually prove my point. I’m not one to base my list on age [Older or younger], my points totals can bear witness to that. For me, and I hope I’m not too off base here, the death pool is, and should be, more than that. If the game becomes too predictable, it’s not worth playing. Because indeed, it won’t be played at that point, it will be merely solved.
And I guess, I’m saying that this can happen for the over 80 set, and the for the under 20 set.
Not even Justin Bieber?
I recognized a few names. But clicking through to a few of the Slavic-sounding names reveals that Russian footballers and hockey players are heavily overrepresented in that list.
Enough to actually win the game? No.
(As of Oct. 1) only four of the top 10 players snagged Amy Winehouse’s 73 points, and neither of the top 2.
Those who’ve scored only with Winehouse are tied for 29th (as of Oct. 1). No, she wasn’t 18, but 9 more points wouldn’t knock **Critical Mass **out of the top spot, and would only have nudged those 29th-ers up to 27th. Adding one 18-year-old to that would be good enough for 8th place. No cigar.
Not to brag, but I myself (as of Oct. 1) was holding onto a respectable 12th without AW’s points. I’d be tied for 2nd if I’d had her, but still squinting upward at the leader.
I’m in 9th place now, and I had Amy on my list for a couple-three years. I took her off this year’s list when I read she went into rehab. How could I know that STOPPING the drugs would kill her?? DAMN DAMN DAMN!
But even if I had her and her points, I still wouldn’t be in the lead.
Tied for ninth, actually!![]()
If you had selected AW you’d be in second place.
Jim, you’re gonna hate Amy Winehouse forever, now, aren’t ya?
Apple is saying Steve Jobs has died.
I posted in my Facebook about an hour or so ago that my iPod died. And I blamed Steve Jobs.
WHAT HAVE I DONE?
Besides earn myself, and a shitload of people, 44 points.
Gizmodo says “Steven P. Jobs passed away on Friday, September 9th, 2011 after a long struggle with pancreatic cancer.” That was nearly a month ago. I wonder if someone just made a typo in the rush to get it posted.
Jobs v. 2.0 will be released shortly.
And now Gizmodo’s story has been corrected to October 5. I guess there was no conspiracy on Apple’s part to keep it secret until the new iPhone launched after all.
Well, I’ll cross him off my prospective 2012 list.
Only 10 others, and none of the leaders.
Oh come on. I had him on my list for a couple years but dropped him off this year. AND ARIEL SHARON IS STILL FUCKING ALIVE GODDAMN IT.
