The Celebrity Death Pool 2011

I think Dick Cheney should count now. He has no heartbeat. If you saw any of his programs on his book tour, you can see he is brain dead. His points should count.

Dude, a little tact…this is a human being we’re tal…

<whisperwhisperwhisper>

Really? I did?

Woot! <High-fives Boyo Jim>

…And Google news finally emails methe news,

Maybe Google news was waiting until he was confirmed really most sincerely dead.

Further news on my list…there is an effort to get one of them on US Postal stamps of living people.

Peter Gent, who spent five seasons as a wide receiver for the Dallas Cowboys and fictionalized his career in the roman à clef titled North Dallas Forty, has died at the age of 69. While Gent wrote several other books, none approached the success of his debut novel, in which the narrator was a stand-in for the author and other characters were based on such figures as quarterback Don Meredith and head coach Tom Landry.

It’s like the fields are yielding a rich bounty of death during this harvest season.

The bodies are starting to stack up in the corner.

A happy (Canadian) Thanksgiving it will be in the Mass household next weekend!

Vasily Aleksanyan for 61 points please.

The Nobel Prize criteria specifies no posthumous awards, but Ralph Steinman died after he was chosen but before the announcement. They decided to let him keep the award (you know what I mean)

Brian

This article states that the rule forbidding posthumous awards was put in place in 1974. This is interesting as I (and Wikipedia) thought that Rosalind Franklin missed out on the Nobel prize because of her death four years before Watson, Crick and Wilkins shared the prize (although there is also a limit of three people, so maybe they just used her death as a convenient solution to the issue of there being four obvious winners).

Anybody have Infomercialist Don Lapre?

Nope. Wasted points.

I think Critical Mass has an inside source. He has 339 points. which is 147 ahead of second place Registered at Last. Seven of CM’s celebrities have died.

If he finishes his list with a given number of days left this year, I suggest he can’t publish his 2012 list until that same number of days have passed in 2012.

I’m like, only a quarter joking here.

In 2012 everybody will tie. The whole world is going to end. I suggest picking people with the youngest possible age ,does not matter who they are.

Yes it does. They have to be celebrities, and I think age 18. What we need is a list of celebrities turning 18 in 2012. Now that I’ve said that, I’m not sure I want to see the kind of website tracking that.

The frustrating thing is, you know not all of them will make it out of 2012 alive.

Dakota Fanning! Aiee!

I thought the frustrating thing would be if they did all make it out of 2012 alive.

People get in Wiki now just for being born?!
