Short eyes list?
England cricketer Basil D’Oliveira. When he was selected to play for England on their tour of South Africa in 1968, South Africa refused to accept the presence of a “coloured” person. England canceled the tour and subsequently banned all sporting ties with South Africa. No official cricket team from any country visited South Africa again until the end of apartheid.
Never mind. OK State coaches already covered.

Just ten more days until the DeathPool 2012 thread starts! Are you making your plans?
I’m considering joining. I have to conquer my fear that playing this game will sentence me to a hell I don’t even believe in.
So how do you guys pick. Do you google near death celebrities or something?
:shudder: I feel squicky just typing that.
Oh, you’ll get over that.
I know, that’s what scares me!
I had a great idea about a week ago, but I didn’t jot it down anywhere and now I am clueless - maybe I’ll just throw darts or something.
But you’ll have the rest of us for company!

Some do - others try to stick to a theme. And yet others wait until the 29th or 30th to post, all the while watching the news for celeb health updates.
I’d better come up with something other than waiting to see how many of my contestants are still with us on December 31.
I’ve got 28 potential [del]victims[/del] contestants on my list so far.

Ted Forstmann, 71, chairman and CEO of IMG since acquiring the company in 2004.
Robin Gibb of the Bee Gees is fighting liver cancer.
Two CFB Deaths.
Garrett Uekman, Univ of Arkansas Freshman Tightend, 19 yrs old.
Larry Munson, longtime Univ of Georgia play by play announcer, Age 89.
Even though I am Ga Tech alum, I really enjoyed the passion that Larry Munson brought to his radio telecasts. He was a total “homer”.
Run Lindsey
Step on their face with Hobnail Boot
My God, almighty he ran over two men…My God A freshman (Herschal Walker)
Mariners outfielder Greg Halman stabbed to death by his brother. He was 24.
Another hot category is Celebrities turning 27 in 2012 / born in 1985. They are potential members of the 27 club. Concentrate on musicians (though your definition of a musician may vary from celebrity definitions), those with documented drug problems, and those with altered mental states. Amy Winehouse was a big “winner” from this year - 73 points.
There are some stalwarts on the lists; Zsa Zsa Gabor ( actually think she’ll make it next year), Dick Clark, Abe Vigoda, and Ariel Sharon (Futurama head in globe candidate).
Franco is still dead.
It’s simple. Ignore your vocal minority, and realize :
-
At least 51% of your brain is already playing along.
-
You will have 335 more days to wait, if you don’t get in this time.
Or, you know, you could go the route of other players (or at least me):
Hate it. And then hate it more that you are putting in your list.
I randomly picked my first year. I had a theme list this year.
I have a theme [and list] for 2012, 2013 and 2014.
