You know, if you check out the posts from when Moon died, in early September, it’s obvious I knew of the death, and had ranked the two posters who got him. So why didn’t my spread sheets show that? This is weird.
A couple more prominent Canucks passed away in the last few days. Darn, we are just too closed mouth about our illnesses, I don’t think anyone had them:
Raylene Rankin, a member of the internationally acclaimed Celtic-country band The Rankin Family, has died after a long fight with cancer at the age of 52.
Barbara Ann Scott, ‘Canada’s Sweetheart’, the only Canadian to win an individual gold medal in Olympic figure skating, died Sunday at 84. She was from my hometown and donated all of her memorabillia to Ottawa just last month. I am happy she was able to return home to have her life celebrated while she was able to enjoy it. My kids learned to skate at the Barbara Ann Scott arena. She remained a lovely, giving lady her whole life. She will be missed.
Also weird – the fact that etv (who added Moon to a previous 18-pointer) is credited with only one “score”, while virginity-loser smithsb somehow has two deaths “in hand”.
I just learned that Barry Commoner died about a week ago at the age of 95. Commoner, who was the 1980 Citizens Party candidate for President of the United States, is considered one of the leading figures in the environmental movement.
Yes you did. If you check post 2521 you will see you have a total of 26 points, 8 for Moon and 18 for Clark. That post show you as 26 1 0, but now you are 26 2 0, after Sternvogel pointed out my error in post 2531.
Chadli Bendjedid, who served as Algeria’s president from 1979 to 1992, has died at the age of 83. More moderate than predecessor Houari Boumedienne, whom he had helped gain power in a 1965 coup that overthrew founding president Ahmed Ben Bella, Boumedienne was himself ousted by the military after an Islamist party’s overwhelming success in parliamentary elections.
