The Celebrity Death Pool 2013

Bain is a unique pick for batsto!

Well… Charlotte Rae is still with us. Don’t know if she counts as “major.”

So does this mean batsto! had some Bain capital no one else had?

Did he have just one hemorrhage or a Series of Diff’rent Strokes?

See, I would facepalm if it weren’t for the fact that I logged in hoping someone hadn’t beat me to the Diff’rent Strokes angle…so do you have room for another passenger in that handbasket that’s headed for the nether realms?

baaaaa haaaaaaa haaaaaaaaaaaa!!

Post 559.

Pauline Friedman Phillips, who under the name of Abigail Van Buren, wrote the long-running “Dear Abby” advice column that was followed by millions of newspaper readers throughout the world, has died. She was 94.

AHEM… That will be fifty points deducted from NFM’s SDMB poker standings score!

Add her to the list of people I thought died a long time ago. Maybe that was her sister “Ann Landers” I was thinking of?

And snopes thanks her (and Paul Harvey) for their existence. Never saw a piece of folklore she couldn’t pass on as fact…

She’s a unique pick for Spazcat.

Chris Cassatt, most recently the cartoonist for the “Shoe” comic strip, has died at 66.

BOOYAH! Um…ahem…I mean, so sorry for the loss of Abby Sr.

I heard this on NPR on my way home today. My first thought was “I got points!” My second thought was “I have to compose a memorial post for her on my advice column blog.” My third thought was “I wonder how many other people had her?” I am made of classy.

Re: “I am made of Classy”

IMO: Real class would have wanted to share points as a second thought, not a third thought.

Is that the first “get” of the year? Did you win the opening round award?

No, Christopher Martin-Jenkins was the first death this year. This is the earliest I’ve ever scored, though.

And since I mentioned it in my earlier post, here’s my tribute to Dear Abby, Sr.

No points for this death since he was executed but I thought that Robert Gleason’s last words uttered in Irish Gaelic might be of interest to this crew: “Pog mo thoin”http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/01/17/robert-gleason-execution_n_2497080.html?icid=maing-grid10%7Chtmlws-main-bb%7Cdl11%7Csec1_lnk2%26pLid%3D258569

And Conrad Bain was the second death. Three down, how many to go?

Gussy Moran, a tennis player whose skill was overshadowed by her wearing of a short skirt and lace panties during the 1949 Wimbledon tournament, has died at the age of 89.
