The Celebrity Death Pool 2013

Nelson Mandela turns 5 points old today. He is said to be still in hospital, recovering from a lung infection. Happy Birthday… I guess.

Helen Thomas has asked her last question

I’ve talked about this game to a lot of people, and many think it’s macabre, morbid, whatever.

Yet I say that if I wasn’t a Doper, and a celebrity, I’d be thrilled to have people watching for me, and cracking bad jokes. It would mean people REMEMBER me.

Thomas was very well known, yet not a single player selected her.:frowning:

I considered her for a while, until I found out her age. I personally cut off celebs at 81 because I play for points, not body count.

Mel Smith, aka The Albino. :frowning:

Outsiders can say what they want, but us players know this is a complex game of ethics and strategy!

and :frowning: :frowning: :frowning:

I just figured she’d outlive us all, she’s been around so long

Link to a bit involving Helen Thomas during Stephen Colbert’s hosting of the 2006 White House Correspondent’s Dinner. (Thomas’ part begins at about 4:15)

That is terrible (not the 9 o’clock) news.

Looking back I can say I liked everything he did.

Damn :frowning: And it’s my fault. If I’d had him on my list, he’d still be alive.

He played Sir Toby in the Trevor Nunn version of Twelfth Night. He was very good (well, everyone was).

And dead people! Mustn’t forget the dead people!

Phil Woosnam, Welsh footballer and former commissioner or the NASL (gesundheit), wastes 20 points.

Dennis Farina dead at 69

So many deaths, so many wasted points.

Total shocker. 69 years young.
Blood clot in his lung. Same thing my grandpa died of, but he was 94.

Former boxer Emile Griffith has died. He was 75.

Virginia Johnson, one half of the Masters and Johnson team of sex researchers back in the 1960s and 1970s, is undoubtedly finding out whether there are orgasms in the afterlife, having passed away at age 88.

Just before his topic at the Black Hat convention on computer security.
