…here yea all the Queens subjects!!! The games are on!!!
I didn’t see another thread on it, so I kicked one off because a Kiwi just won a gold! (Expects to see Calm Kiwi any minute!)
Anyone else following the games?

Well, I’m not necessarily “following” the games, but the games are “following” me.
I work in the CBD in Melbourne, down the non-Paris end of Collins Street so it’s not too bad, but last night, they stopped the trams at 6:00pm.
Just when everyone wanted to:
a. Get to the games.
b. Get home to watch the games.
I haven’t caught much, only a little of the opening ceremony and I thought the tram was slightly cringeworthy.
Still the Aussies have at least a bronze in the weightlifting.
I suppose when the swiming finals come on there’ll be a lot of attention.
Personally, I’m waiting for the lawn bowls, but I don’t have tickets (sold out) and I really don’t know what sort of coverage it will get on the TV.
Hey BB how dare you presume I am so predictable!
GOLD IN THE POOL! GO KIWIS! (Who saw that coming? Not me.) Sterling effort for silver and bronze Ockers.
I apologise for my predictabilty, I just like watching people do all that running/swimming/biking/jumping stuff that I was never any good at (and couldn’t be arsed doing).
YAY KIWIS! (did anyone else think it was VERY odd that Dame Kiri sang happy birthday 37 days early?).
Not watching it, they’re not showing it on tv here, but my colleague’s husband is there to represent Antigua (shooting). I am wishing him the best of luck.
How does this work? I don’t see any of the bigger swimming names that I know, not that I know a ton of them. The times are good but not the best, do the best people not show up, or are they getting ready for something else? Still I wouldn’t mind seeing some of the swimming.
…the big swimming name, Ian Thorpe, is out, due to illness, and I know a few other big names are out. Only Commonwealth countries can compete in the games.
…and Calm Kiwi, it was nice to help break the Aussie dominance in the pool. And the haka beside the pool was pretty cool, they’ve changed some of 'old Te Rauparaha’s movements, {slamming the arm to the ground} which was neat.
