The correct spelling and punctuation of rock and roll.

What’s the right way to write it? Rock’n’roll? Rock N roll? What exactly should I do to abbreviate the “and”?

A pretty pointless query, but I was wondering.

As a published writer of music criticism for over a decade and in publications in three continents, I submit the following:

Rock ‘N’ Roll.

Of course, like anything else, you can spell it several ways. Like good rock ‘n’ roll, as long as you get the point across, it’s a mission accomplished!

Yer pal,

Like, say, ‘rack/wrack ‘n’ ruin’? Or is that slightly, but not much, different?

According to Rev. Lovejoy it’s “Rock and or Roll”

As long as we’re on the subject: the term for the ‘n’ is nacton.
