The current batch of campaign ads

So far (Florida) I’ve gotten the usual negative fare-“Sen. Schmuck was caught with his hand in the cookie jar-Bad for Florida, Bad Bad Bad!” Those have been the bread and butter of campaign ads forever it seems of course. What’s odd to me is some of the GOP ads come out and promise to repeal Obama’s health care laws, decry the stimulus and bank bailouts, and so on, as if these accomplishments (“blights on the landscape of America”, rather) are so self-evidentially bad ideas that no further elaboration is necessary, at all.

I’m not sure that there’s that many undecided voters who would thus be swayed by them (vs. the occ. positive ad along with the hordes of negative ones, natch), since they don’t really bother to explain why Obama’s laws are so horrible-someone from a foreign country, completely naive on everything that’s happened in the past decade here, would be tempted to ask themselves, “Yeah, and…?”

I haven’t really seen that kind of political ad before, basically.

I just wrote in the Michigan thread that I have never seen as many ads as are running now. I have also never seen as many nasty ones. There are some imitating the "Willy Horton ’ ads of a few years ago. The local judges are being attacked in a horrible way. The other campaigns are very nasty too. Thank you Supreme Court, this is so much better. Good grief

I’m hoping there is a massive financial hangover for the corporations who are spending millions on races that lose, or on winning candidates who then stick it up their asses.

I, on the other hand, wouldn’t mind at all seeing some of the corporate candidates sticking things up their asses. It would certainly be a more worthwhile use of their time and talents than participating in government.
