Toads were my first answer, and I changed it. Because I never actually have them, even though I want them, because they (and ladybugs) eat the aphids that infest my roses. I should have said “mulch” for #7, too, but I was thinking about the roses because I just tended to them. (Also, I don’t know why I put “impatiens” for #6 – I frikkin hate those damn things.)

Maybe I should have thought more about my flower beds and less about my actual flowers.

My toads live under the brick that is step up to the back door. (It’s actually a concrete gutterpipe-water catcher, upside down.) Ernie goes absolutely nuts when they come out in the evening to eat the skeeters…

Where have all the good toads gone…

There were toads a-plenty when I was growing up. We caught them, squealed when they peed on us, and then told each other we’d get warts. Oh the toads I’ve known.

But now …nuttin.’ I’ve gardened all my adult life and I don’t think I’ve seen a toad in 30 years.

I heard that here in the south they’re being crowded out by fire ants. No cite…

I think we need more heterosexual male (or neutral) themes… Show Tunes? Gardening? Movie Musicals? Here’s some ideas for the next few: Interior decorating, Guys of Sex in the City, Shoes, Fashion Designers, Androgynous Rock Stars of the 80s, Quiches, Trendy Martinis, Cute Baby Names.

Hey, I just got to place well in US Military questions, so it’s not all bad for us who are out of touch with our feminine side.

My garden’s full of 'em. Tons of 'em. Giant ones. I find them useful for scaring neighborhood children.
