Thanks to this thread, I made a point to catch the re-run of this episode today. Priceless!
I loved the bit about how even talking about quail hunting was feeding information to all those quails, who were sitting in their quail coveys (or something) and laughing at us.
Great opening. Hilarious, among the best I’ve seen. I just love the absolute glee that they had hitting this story.
Perhaps since I was primed by the VP story, I have to admit, I laughed harder at Jon’s bit about Yoko, starting with the face of dread at her reading the Olympic oath. And I knew it was coming, but the payoff was great:
“Ono then proceded to break up the British four man bobsled team.”
I had been looking forward to the Daily Show all day, and they did not disappoint! I was thinking about what we would see over Jon’s right shoulder all day, and I had thought of “Cheney’s Got A Gun”, too. Just as I turned to Mr. singular and said “I wish they would’ve used it”, it popped up on the screen. What a lovely VD present from my tv boyfriend (we can share, Amaranta)!
Still waiting for “I Shot A Man in Texas”, though.
singular1 - something about that sentence just doesn’t scan right…hmmm…what can it be? Oh, I know - how about the fact that without realizing you mean “VD” to mean Valentine’s Day, it reads like you are proposing giving Amaranta the clap!
I kill me…
Back on point, as other posters said, I loved Jon’s “Thank you Jesus” comment at the beginning and the occasional glance back up heavenward when a particularly funny point was hit.
