Veep Shoots Guy, The Funny Times

My internet in Saudi has been down for a few weeks. I have been travelling and am now in the US.

All in all, I have been out of it for a month or so. Not plugged in. So I picked up The Funny Times. I get all my news from The Funny Times.

So in brief, was the Veep really drunk when he shot that guy? Several articles and cartoons indicate he had at least one beer at lunch.

Even uglier, some articles are asking questions about some attractive blonde lady in the hunting party.

Anything to all this old news?

It rapidly became easier to untangle the true reasons we went into Iraq. But we can sit here debating who precisely shot who in the face but the important thing is that the old guy apologised for all the trouble he caused by getting shot in the face.

See: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dick_Cheney_hunting_incident

See also a great many SDMB threads. We’ve had 'em in every forum. Just do a general keyword search on “Cheney” for the past three months. (BTW, do you have access to a TV channel that carries The Daily Show, even in reruns? If you get the episodes that aired in the days after the shooting, you might find this event treated in even greater depth and insight than it was in The Funny Times. )

Not really a debate but a request for info. To MPSIMS.

That’s a really unfortunate URL abbreviation …

But no less funny for all that.

I was about to say the same thing!

Bwhaa… I’d have missed it if you hadn’t, so thanks!

The attractive blonde is the Ambassador to Switzerland or Denmark or [Kurt Russell]Sweden[/Kurt Russell]. Various accounts have Lynn Cheney quite upset at her presence but it obviously also makes for good copy.

Is it just me, or does the length of the Wikipedia entry seem way out of proportion to the significance of the event? I mean the friggin’ thing has almost three times as many words as the entire Teapot Dome Scandal entry. Even worse, it’s got about 300 more words than the Watergate entry for Christ’s sake. Man, what a skewed perspective.

Thank you all. You’re right of course I should have done a search, that is one of my long-standing faults.

You have to make allowances. Teapot Dome wasn’t funny.

I read the title as “Jeep Shoots Guy”, and was looking forward to some Knight Rider/G.I.-style action. Alas.

If Wikipedia had been around in 1922 or 1973, those other scandals would have much larger entries. Current events do get more material than historical ones.

And it’s a bit shorter than the entry on Final Fantasy X. Which is surprising how?

What I’ve gathered suggests that Cheney did have a beer at lunch, but was probably not drunk while hunting.
