The Dark Tower [The Dark Tower, Book VII] Is Here!

Well… not exactly. My copy is in route from Louisville and will be waiting for me on my doorstep when I get home. God love Amazon.com.

Who else is completely stoked?

I’ve already informed the missus that she shouldn’t take it personal when I don’t speak or move for a solid four to six hours this evening.

I’ve been trying to shove the last few days into fast forward, and it’s **finally ** here. Something tells me that work is going to drag insufferably today.

Anyway, I’ll be back tonight to post my thoughts on it! Oh, right, I guess we should probably use spoiler boxes in this thread, so there’s a heads-up.

She shouldn’t take it *personally * either. Stupid adverbs.

I got it last week, and I’m about half way though.

There have been some… shocking events. Let’s just say King is tying off loose ends.

Again, I say, screw the creditors. I have my priorities in order.

I’m about a quarter of the way through, and it’s been interesting so far. I wish I didn’t have to work so I could finish it

I’m picking mine up in fifteen minutes.

I’m getting an extra so Ardred can read it too. (shhh! 'tis a surprise!)

I’m picking up my copy at lunch today.

I admit, I’m sorta freaked out by this. We’re talking YEARS of anticipation here. I honestly cannot remember any other book or series that I have been following for this long. After I read this, there aren’t going to be any more DT books to wait for … which seems odd. I’ve been waiting for “the new DT” book since I was in high school, for cryin’ out loud, in the 80s.

Been waiting 22 years for this event! Mrs. Mercotan is picking up my copy today.

830 pages of absolute wonderfulness. I saw the dozens of copies downstairs on my way in to work, and I can’t wait. I contemplated calling in sick today, but I had my fantasy teams to consider (sad that a fantasy team was my sole reason to come to work…)

Alessan, I can’t imagine more encouraging words. I’m so friggin’ excited I can’t stand it.

I’m picking my copy up at lunch. I can’t remember ever having this much anticipation for a book release. Like delphica I feel a bit nervous, but I have confidence that King will finish off the story well.

My copy is on a UPS truck in Hodgkins, Illinois.

I didn’t finish Wolves of the Calla and haven’t read Song of Susannah yet, but I think I’ll start on it today.

I read a review (no spoilers) that said King gives no back story in the final book, so it sounds like I’d better not skip Susannah.

Yeah, I’m getting mine today too. I’m a little leary about the ‘promise’ in earlier intros that he’s going to tie everything he’s previously written into the rest of the series. I hope he pulls it off, but I’ve still got heartburn over the revised (or was it original?) ending of The Stand.

You and me both. I can’t believe I’ve been reading these books for more than half my life. :stuck_out_tongue:

How did you get a copy early, you lucky bastard?!

I get mine tonight. Can’t wait to dive in!

P.S. I heard on NPR this morning that today is Mr. King’s birthday. What cool timing.

Tomorrow is King’s birthday. It would have been so much better to have the release then, as 9/22/2004 adds up to 19, *and * is King’s b-day.

Nope, it’s today. Cites all over the place – a few the date as September 22nd, but most (including NPR and darktower.net) have it as today.

I picked up my copy on the way in to work today. It’s going to be a long day at work.

I’m pissed. Today is the first day of my week on at work, which means I’ll have no time to purchase or read this until next Tuesday. Oh, well. I’d rather wait a week and be able to sit down and read it with no interruptions than try to snatch a few pages here and there around work.

Huh. The first 3 I looked at said the 22nd, but iMDB says the 21st - I’ll take that cite over anything else. (Surprisingly, it’s NOT on his website.)

:smack: Christ, I’ve been doing this way too much today:
